The fabled Lexington Catholic has a U12 team at the KBA this weekend. Does anyone know anything about this team?

 

I talked to the coach for the U12 NKY Wolfpack and he will have all 8 of his players for this weekend's tournament. Too bad the Legends, CKY Warriors or Tarheels aren't playing in this event.

 

Considering when the 3 guards are together, the Wolfpack are averaging 55 points per game, they will be tough to handle for alot of teams at state.

Lake Cumberland is the team that won the 2nd grade AAU state last year and they have 4-5 4th graders added. They are from somerset (Southwestern).

 

I remember the SW Sonics beating the NKY Wildcasts last season to win the state. I thought the Wildcast had better talent but the Sonics size killed the Wildcats.

The Ville's, has been invited to play in the Texas Titan's tournament in March. The other 4 teams invited is the Super friends, MI. A.R.C.12, CA. OBC, OH, and 12 Under D1 Champs Huston Defenders, TX. This is a true heavy weight :fight:tournament.

This will be a very tough challenge for the Ville. They will play a brutal schedule 3 games on the first day and 2 games on the next day. One game a day against this type of talent would be exhausting.

That's great to hear 13U The Ville got that invite to Texas. They certainly deserve it, finishing 11th in the nation last year and dominating in-state competition. Plus, I think it will only help them in the long run, regardless of the results from the weekend. I know last year The Ville very rarely went outside of Louisville to see the top competition, so it's good to see they are doing so this year.

Neither Racke or Sampson played for the Firehawks, both back problems.

This is something that is lost too many times in AAU ball. I remember getting beat once 63-6 by a team that pressed the entire game (I won't mention any names :thumb:).

Who has the wolfpack 12/u played in central kentucky or louisville? I do not recall ever seeing them play. What was the result of the games they played outside of northern ky? I saw the 11/u wolfpack play last season and they had the 2nd best team in the 10/u DII state but got the ville early and lost. I really thought that the ville and the wolfpack should have been DI last season, do you know which division the 11/u's are playing this season?

U12 Wolfpack lost to the Legends by 9 (6 point game with 1:45 left and needed to start fouling and only had 6 players, missing 2 starters) and beat Scott County Wolfpack by 12. They have also played the Cincy Knights twice beating them both times. The U12 Wolfpack this year is a totally different team from last year with the exception of 2 players.

 

The U11 will probably play DII. They like all of the Wolfpack teams are community teams. Typically all players come from at the most 2 schools. The U12 has all of their players living in 2 zip codes. By definition, the Wolfpack is a DII organization.

The kids from U12 live in Alexandria and Walton. Only 2 players have previous AAU experience. For the rest, this is their first year of AAU competition. U11 will probably play D1.

I think if you have the talent to compete DI, you should. The kids will get alot better playing that caliber of compition and it is about the kids getting better, not winning every game. We are DII because we do not have a post player but if we had one we would go DI . All of our kids are in 2 classrooms in one hall. I felt like we had the 3rd best team in the DII state last season... we lost to the ville by single digits in the semis plus we had beaten somerset and wayne co(team Access) during the year. We may let our kids (2 GUARDS) play elsewhere this season so they can compete at the DI level.

The Firehawks are just a good all around team. I think they have definitely improved from last year. They are probably only missing a dead eye shooter.
