It's probably not fair, but nobody remembers the regular season games when the two play for the title. An X win puts icing on the broom. A T win and the broom suddenly doesn't matter as much. It's like an X guy dating a hot girl for a while and then she marries a guy from T. I'll say it again, X will be ready because they HAVE to be ready. Losing a 3rd title game to T & Beatty would not make for a very good plaque in the Xaverian hallways. P.S. The only thing questionable about the 2005 spot was why the player that tried to steal the ball didn't get the boot. P.S.S. Thanks for the PM JimRef.

In keeping with the boxing analogy, I've seen this "Rope-A-Dope" before. Let'em win big in the regular season; then get'em in the Championship.

 

I for one still remember the sting from two years ago when the best team in the State didn't close the deal by winning the Championship Game.

 

I remember that knot in my stomach and the struggle to fight back the tears I saw in my sons eyes, who was a sophmore at the time, when he came down that ramp with the rest of his team mates back at St. X.

 

I remember the weeks afterward when you would think about what happened and get that sick feeling all over again.

 

These boys have not forgotten that feeling. They have Extra Insentive to win this game. That's part of the rivalry that no-one else can understand unless you've been through it!

 

Let's all pray for no injury's and a good hard faught football game. May the best team win.

This is great testamony as to why the St. X supporters are anticipating a close, hard fought game. The Tigers will be focused and ready to play. There should be no reason not to be totally prepared and ready to play. Should be a great game to watch.

CR you are correct I don't even think we should show up. I just don't see how we can beat the best D X has by some accounts ever had. We have never scored more than 28pts on X and have not seen that many since 2000 during Bob's first year. The Trinity D has not stopped the run all year when we are playing a balanced team this is going to be a major problem in this game. Hety it is like MG said to his LB's before the regular season game " Their Two are better then our Three". He must have been right as we got beat. :scared:

This game always makes me nervous. I remember '05 and the blind ref in the endzone. Nervous because of:

it's hard to beat a good team twice in a season

 

we shackled Tim Phillips (except the 1 long run) and that will be hard to do again. He killed us last year in the short game.
