IamaFan: I got sick of reading the "Ryle is no Big III" and "Ryle by 21" because that's all garbage. This is the best 4A team from Northern KY since Boone 94'. That team didn't pass at all period and this team does. Ryle is big, fast, very tough, and has about 6 kids that just make plays. Then they have Murray who is phenomenal. They also have a very good coaching staff and they're on a roll.

 

luvthemraiders: This will be a very good game between two very good teams to the surprise of most people outside of Union.

For instance some, and notice I said some, of the posters go on to say that T is a great program and Ryle will have to play a nearly flawless game and get some help to win. I've read the thread many times. As for outlandish statements, I think I was clear that one team or one area does not have the market cornered. I'm just glad that the vast majority of Trinity folks don't feel this unbearable need to look down their noses at other teams.

The difference is that Trinity and St.X have achieved a rough parity in the rivalry. NKY big schools, outside of Dixie Heights(who has been the most balanced of the ones we have faced), don't usually fare to well against the Rocks. In fact most of those games seem to be blowouts.

Again, so that entitles you to "look down your nose" at those programs that have not achieved this "rough parity"? I would agree that, especially in recent years, the T vs. Boone/Ryle games have been a bit lopsided. If anything that's a testament to the T program, Coach Coverdale, and all involved in Trinity football. Your accomplishments speak for themselves. You don't need to diminish the accomplishments of other programs. Surely you are better than that. Surely your not defending the fact that CentreRocks took a bunch of quotes, without referencing the context, and put them together to discredit the opinions of Boone Co. supporters? Every team has supporters who make outlandish claims, please don't make it sound like teams from NKY are the only ones.

What is so outlandish about those? A couple of fans supporting their team. Yeah, their predictions were bold, but why wouldn't you want your team to think they had a chance? Do you expect fans of every NKY 6A school to come in here and worship at the alter of Trinity every time they draw them in the playoffs? I'm not a Boone County supporter, and I don't expect them to win, but I would love it if they did.

Some of us have more fun with fans of other schools than others. I am personally not at all concerned about Boone unless they all of a sudden have X's defense to go along with their offense. If that is the case and they can pass enough to keep our defense honest I am not going to worry about it.

 

I don't really look down my nose at NKY teams any more than I do other parts of the state, although I don't feel as though NKY 6A is up to the level of Louisville or Lexington over the last few years. I more or less look upon teams from that area with a degree of bemused indifference. Dixie has beaten us, as has HHS. They have earned my respect.

 

As to the CentreRocks post, I have no real opinion one way or another outside of the fact that I found it worth a chuckle.

I agree completely, and I'm glad you said that. All of the Rock fans that I've met in person have been very gracious and respectful of other teams. :thumb:

 

IN spite of all the 'smash mouth -- trash talking" going on - most if not all of us appreciate those comments. The past history between T and No. Ky. speaks for itself. No need to relive IMHO. Let's just tee it up Friday night and see what happens. For this is when it really matters - for THIS YEAR. Anything can happen - treat each opponent as if they were the best team you are to face this season. Then go out and do it.:thumb::thumb:

That's my point. Every game that Boone or Ryle has played Trinity since Beatty's been here has been a blowout. If you're going to make these predictions in support of your team, fine. Just don't whine and say that the quotes were taken out of context and use revisionist history. :cry:
