What was disrespectful about that quote? It sounds like he knows they are going into a tough place to play but that they're going to show up and give it all they've got. Should he have just said that the Patriots have no chance and they'll just save everyone a lot of trouble and forfeit?

I agree, unless he was saying to hit them in the mouth with his fist which I seriously doubt that was it. I believe that several coaches/players have used this same quote when asked how to take on a good opponent. It's like the ole standard terms from Bull Durham " I am just happy to help the team. No, but by suggesting that it was bulletin board material the logical conclusion is that something undue was said that would inspire Highlands. Usually when something simply rrespectful of an opponent and encouraging to their own team's fans is said it is not pointed out to the opponent by its fans as something that they need to be shown for inspiration. By using it in the context that you did it makes it seems as though it were something the young man from Lincoln shouldn't have said.

Regular season doesn't matter anymore. Highlands is a totally different team come playoff time and it is showing by blowing the last three opponents out. I see the same thing happening this week. When these young men set their goals to win a state championship it is hard to stop them. GO BIRDS!!!!!

I have been here long enough to know that the vast majority of Highlands posters are great fans who let their team do the talking but there are those here, too, who take every comment as a reason to try to diminish the opponent. By my way of thinking, I prefer to pump up my opponent and then to know that I have beaten the best (or been beaten by the best).

 

To repeat again, we have the utmost respect for Highlands High School and their storied football program.

 

If we are out-manned, so be it, but we will bring a well prepared and well coached team that will play hard and fight to the end.

 

Also, I find it laughable that a HHS player is going to anything more or different because some anonymous poster said that they don't like physical play. Make yourself feel imporatant if you want, but the HHS players are going to bring the wood early and often, just like Lincoln County will, regardless of what you type here.

 

The long-time Lincoln County fans know that physical play is the cornerstone of Highlands football. By Sunday night, the current players will know it too and they will be working on a game plan to pull out a win.
