I appreciate your kind words. Caleb feels as if he lost the game for the Hounds. But as we all know the game never comes down to one play. However, try telling that to a young player who felt he should have scored and knowing him, he probably would have. He said the ball got caught in the lights and he never saw it. When it hit his hands it just fell through. He was devasted. Football teaches kids many things about life and that is you can be on the mountain one day and in a valley the next. Our strength of character is fostered when we can pick it up, learn from it, and go on. It really helps us put things in perspective as well. This is a shining example of how the only constant is Jesus Christ and without a personal relationship with Him we have no hope. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Caleb knows this and will find strength in his faith. Caleb also loves football and he will bounce back and be a contributor for the next two years. We had a great season and have nothing to be ashamed of -----we will grow as a team and have other opportunities. Thanks again for your kindness. GO HOUNDS!!!

He tends to be a little hard on himself.........if not for his effort last week, Corbin may not have even been playing this week and he made spme plays last night that had the Hounds in a position to win.

Corbin lost because they could not consistently move the ball offensively.

I agree. NCC's D had a LOT to do with that though!

NCC will now go on to win the title.

No doubt about that.

Is it just me or does Mark Kelly never get a hole to run through? If it weren't for him breaking at least 2 tackles everytime he gets the ball he wouldn't have any yards.

It is the same problem Vickers had for awhile at the beginning of last year. When you spread the field and do not have any lead blockers it is hard for 5 offensive lineman to block 7 or more defenders. The wideouts do block well but if you can't get beyond the line it doesn't matter. It is part of the price for using so many wideouts and running out of the shotgun with no fullback and no tight end.

Last year after the terrible effort on offense against Holy Cross, NCC finally decided to run the ball out of a running formation against Bellevue and Vickers had something silly like 219 yards on 9 carries.

Plus NCC is committed to not playing people two ways for the most part. I think they could pound the ball if they wanted to by having DL Keating and Wedding go both ways and play OL.

Corbin lost because they pulled their fullback in the second half. What a mistake. Whats up with that?????

I couldn't agree more. I'd like to see them use a little more I formations, it would open up their offence that much more and make them even more potent

Glad to hear it just isn't NeCath that has a problem with the sore losers at the city school in Pulaski Co. Pretty soon they will acuse Corbin of recruiting.

The quote that Hounds was referring to came from a Pulaski County fan. I don't think ANY Somerset fans accused Corbin of cheating or blamed their loss to the Hounds on anything other than Corbin winning the game. If you want to check out some comments from sore losers check out the middle school football thread after Corbin lost to Somerset in the conference finals. Corbin had a fine team this season and deserved to be where they were, I know most Somerset fans that I know were rooting for them.

Excuse me for asking but what did he do in the first half that had Corbin up 16-7 at the half? It seems to me that Corbin couldn't capitalize when they had the chance. No one player won or lost the game for Corbin they lost this game as a team. No excuses here NCC was better team on this night.

I'm guessing that he was fighting an injury, which made it hard to play both ways. His blocking was key in the first half, but Sanders seemed to play pretty well in his first stint as a FB in the second half.

Exactly. I want to also say that Caleb Watkins is the man! His heart and hustle is a huge reason the hounds were able to have such a fine year. We love this kid and look foward to having him around. He and Fritts are special, and will do big things for the Redhounds.

Also, I want to thank all the seniors for their hard work. I have spent many enjoyable nights watching them grow into men over the last four years. I wish them nothing but the best.

I agree, maybe fake a handoff and throw the ball would even be a nice change. You can only run your QB so many times, especially when he's only 150lbs or so.Good thing Robbie's a tough kid and is doing a great job.

No problem. No exscuses here, just facts. Your right no one player lost that game, two coaches did. When that 230 bull is in the game he either blows holes or diverts attention. Films shows it all if you couldn't see it live. Fact is when you have a good team one stud can make the difference. They really should have given HIM THE BALL 20-25 times and moved on to state. They blew it last year and it cost them again this year. Now that being said, the offensive line was awsome this year, Loved watching them play. Just needed to keep all the pcs of the puzzle together. I also ask the boy myself. There was no injury that kept him from playing. Pain or no Pain, Anyone that knows Campbell knows what an animal he is and that he would do anything to help his team win. IMO Can't do that from the sidelines.

Tough loss for the Hounds. They had a good season and will bounce back.

I am not from Corbin, so I'm not patting my town on the back so to speak. I know alot of the kids that play on the football team, and the are all good kids. But there is one that stands out from the rest in my opinion. Caleb Watkins. I've watched him grow up to be a fine young man. I've never heard one negative thing about him from anyone. His character comes from his family life. Mr and Mrs. Watkins should write a book on how to raise a child. They done a great job with this young man. My hats off to the Hounds for a fine season and for having such fine young men representing their program.
