Prayer's continue!

Garret is in surgery right now. I guess they're going to put some pins in. It should take about an hour and a half -- that's about seven years in "nervous-wreck-uncle time." Amazingly, they said they'll try to get him up on it tomorrow and he could even be released by tomorrow afternoon!

 

They said we're looking at a 6 to 9 month road before he's back to normal. The best part of hearing those words is that he WILL, God willing, be back to normal.

 

Thanks again everyone. This place, and all of you are just priceless at a tough time like this. I don't even know what to say.

I firmly believe he will be back to normal, I will keep him in my prayers.

I wish this kid the speediest recovery ever. I was there and on the field, and this kid is an absolute trooper. Just the thought of lying there 20 minutes in absolute pain, waiting for the ambulance, he was a real trooper. Just hope for the best and a quick recovery. Just put a damper on the whole day. Football was the last thing on everyones mind after that. I will keep you in my prayers.

Thanks so much. I so wish I had been there. But I'm glad so many good people like yourself were there. I heard that at least two of his teammates called for him. He may have gotten to talk to them too. I know it meant a lot to him, and what you've said will mean a lot to the whole family.

My nephew broke his femur a couple of months ago. Scary stuff...

Children's Hospital is the BEST! We are so lucky to have it here. I have no doubt your nephew will do very well.

 

I had one child hospitalized years ago at Childrens. As scared as we were as parents, my son still talks about what a cool place it was. Games, toys, movies, and fun nurses! They are good at minimizing the pain. VERY good at what they do.

 

No doubt it will be tough at first, for him and his parents, but kids bounce back faster than adults.

 

Before you know it he will be thinking of himself as a real football hero! He will have his own war story to tell his friends. When he gets back to school he will need his friends to carry his books and help him in the lunch room. I have had a few experiences with broken bones and children. Believe me, he will work it!
