Just saw this BF, I am so sorry to hear about your nephew. I'm sure he will be OK, but I will keep him in my prayers. I'm here if you need me dude. Hang in there.

Right now he's telling his dad that he doesn't want to play anymore. They only had another game or two anyway. But hopefully, he'll reconsider with the passing of some time. But that's the least of importance right now. We just need to get him through this surgery and back to himself again.

 

Garret and his sister were just with us Friday night at the Highlands game. He was all excited because he got to stand next to Chris Collinsworth. He really has gotten into football, and I hope he gets to continue.

 

A cheerleader at our school was in a bad car wreck several years (6?) ago. She suffered a compound fracture to her femur (top bone in leg). I worried that she would ever be able to walk properly again, let alone cheerlead and play softball. However, within three months, she was walking properly and active again...finished out the year as a cheerleader and softball player.

 

Young people are resilient. Get him to a couple of ball games somewhere while he is in his cast and let him meet some of the team members. Maybe they will sign his cast and tell him they are proud of him for his football "battle scars". That is the best way to get him back in the football mindset. :thumb:

Thoughts and lots of prayers and love goes out to Garrett and the entire BirdsFan family. I know that you feel helpless but he knows that his "favorite" uncle loves him and will be there for him. I do know that it hurts to see someone you love hurt but he will be just fine.

 

God, please wrap this wonderful young man in your loving arms and keep him safe.

Garret is in surgery right now. I guess they're going to put some pins in. It should take about an hour and a half -- that's about seven years in "nervous-wreck-uncle time." Amazingly, they said they'll try to get him up on it tomorrow and he could even be released by tomorrow afternoon!

 

They said we're looking at a 6 to 9 month road before he's back to normal. The best part of hearing those words is that he WILL, God willing, be back to normal.

 

Thanks again everyone. This place, and all of you are just priceless at a tough time like this. I don't even know what to say.
