October 14, 200718 yr Author Can someone make the kid a highlight film of himself, that should motivate him againI think that would be an awesome idea too. Unfortunately, I don't know if anyone took films of any of the games. We have some snapshots. That's all though. This is "part of" the reason I feel so awful. I feel terrible for him of course; but I also feel so bad that I didn't make it to any of the three (home) games I had a chance to attend. I let the hot weather be my excuse for not going. Now, he may never play again, and I may never get the chance to make up for it. This whole episode has been a real eye-opener. Don't take anything or anyone for granted, and don't miss out on life's little moments.
October 18, 200718 yr Author Garret went to the doctor today and, amazingly, they removed his cast! He still has his leg wrapped; but they said the bars in his leg will be enough to support the bones. Of course, he's not allowed to put any weight on it. They want him to start rehabing and he can only do that with the cast off. It sure isn't like the old days when you had a cast on for a couple months! :eek: (The picture in my avatar was taken today.)

November 11, 200718 yr Author Just thought I'd give a little update for all those who were so supportive after my nephew broke his leg playing football. Tomorrow will mark five weeks since Garret's injury. He's doing pretty well these days. He went to the doctor yesterday, and she said he can start putting weight on his leg. She said to start with 20 pounds and move up 20 more every few days. Now, how is a 9-year-old is supposed to figure out what is 20 pounds of his weight? But anyway, he's getting closer to the ultimate goal of returning to his normal self. That's all that matters. Thanks again for the support during that scary time. :thumb: I'm going to try to talk him into coming to the Cov Cath game with us Friday...so he can meet all of his fans.
