October 5, 200718 yr Lets not lose our heads about UK's defense. They had ONE great QUARTER. Other than that, they couldn't guard the TE or #11. If it weren't for the qb, they have a TD instead of settling for a FG in the first half. Woodson's first fumble simply gave them the 7 that SC's O earned on the first series. Good Ds don't give up 3rd and longs against an "average at best" FROSH qb. Good defenses make stops when their team needs a big stop. This defense cannot and has not done that. The strength of this team is the offense, not the defense. Yeah this defense is not a great defense, its not even a good defense, and I dont think anyone expects that this defense would be. However the defense did play good enough for the team to win last night...
October 5, 200718 yr South Carolina is an experienced quarterback away from being a powerhouse in the SEC East. I would say about 2 more great recievers. Smelley clearly outplayed Woodson last night.
October 5, 200718 yr If "people on the bandwagon" refer to poser UK fans, then I hope they jump off. . Support the Cats no matter what, Be it 2-9 or 8-4. If you sell your season tix because they lose a game or what have you, then that's pitiful. JMO If you were referring to the media, I agree this will calm the waters. It kinda got out of hand and this knocks everyone back to reality.

My gut tells me that UK can beat Florida :sssh: UK should have beaten South Carolina by 2 TD's or more and they get Florida at home... just think about it. With that said though, if Florida beats LSU forget everything I said :lol:

October 5, 200718 yr UK played abysmal and were easily 2-3 TD's better than SC last night, turnovers and poor execution are on them. SC is not a Top 10 team. Thats pretty much how I feel. I'd say UK is a 14-18 type team, and SC is a 20-24 team. UK did everything they could to give the game away, and still hung around.

October 5, 200718 yr There are often plays in a game that are so major mistakes will lose you a football game. Normally one of these mistakes will lose you a close game. Last night, UK had four of them.
October 5, 200718 yr Final Don't even try to say that South Carolina is a good team. They're not. UK had a million oppurtunities to take this game and choked/crumbled/gave it away each time. UK should have won this game and they are, plain and simple, better than SC. Sorry, but I'll say South Carolina is a good team. Their only loss is a 12-point defeat to one of the two teams that everyone says is a notch above the rest, on the road. UK made some costly mistakes that cost them any chance to win the game, but they didn't get beat by a bad team. That's ridiculous.
October 5, 200718 yr Arrrrrrgh. Please make it stop. How can you say what UK showed was better than anyone? Take the loss in stride... :thumb: You'd think we were an "established" national power with the reaction from this loss. I don't understand the reaction to this loss. We got beat by one of the top teams in the conference on the road. When you go on the road in the SEC you have to bring your A game and Kentucky didn't. I don't think South Carolina did either, but two things they did do was protect the football and defend the pass very well. UK had a similar performance against Arkansas...they basically gave away 19 points in that game and were lucky to win. Last night they gave away 14 directly, and Woodson's INT cost them at least a FG...take those away and it would have been a nail biter. As it was, the mistakes were made and we paid the price. Hopefully, the Cats will learn to value the football more...and it would be nice to see them sell out with the run when it's first and goal. USC defended the pass very well...I thought at some point UK should have taken the stance that, "Hey, we're going to run the ball all three times and put this ball in the end zone." Instead they kept mixing a pass in on first or second down, which was incomplete and basically forced them to pass after that. Anyway, this loss hasn't ruined our season. We're still ahead of the curve, IMO. If you'd have told me before the season that we'd be 4-4 after 8 games, I'd have been happy...as it is, the worst we can do is 5-3. It's frustrating from the standpoint that Carolina didn't play that great either, so it was a very winnable game. Kentucky looked like a team that wasn't quite ready for the spotlight. Hopefully, they can learn from it and make it pay off in the next couple of games.

Its not like USC is a bad team, their defense is young & solid. They give you UK problems b/c they did a great job disguising blitzes & coverage’s. I think the rain hurt UK as well & the 4 TO's show that some. I know its part of the game and you have to adjust to your environment. Anyone who has played football knows that when you play in the rain, you have to adjust how you step, throw, run, carry the ball, block, cut…etc.. Maybe the rain got to their heads more then it should of ..? Either way or any way I guess.....UK will be okay but the next 2 weeks are brutal.

We just didn't get it done. But, I'm like you...we all knew UK was going to lose more than once before the season was over. They need to forget about this loss and work on improving and get ready for LSU. A win over LSU, although unlikely, would certainly erase the sting of this loss.
October 5, 200718 yr Got to agree with 98, South Carolina is not very good. They would not have been ranked so high in the pre-season if not for Steve Spurrier and the fact that they are in the SEC. That being said, they outplayed us last night.
