Beechwood got robbed. Those refs need to be fired. Beechwood's Cody Elliott was four feet in the endzone. The back ref called it a touchdown but the side judges ignored him. Then the refs didn't get the ball set until 15 seconds had ran off the clock. This game was not won by Cov Cath. It should have been a tie and gone to OT. Worst reffing I have ever seen. Beechwood, you did not lose this one, don't let it get you down!!!!!!

 

The refs were bad all night. It was obvious that Beechwood fumbled the ball in the 3rd quarter, but was called down. Would love to see a poll to see how many thought that it was a fumble. Poor spotting of the ball and a couple of times ruling a first down when a measurement was in order. How about the early bump on a CCH reciever that wasn't called in the second half?

 

With all of that said, you take care of everything and don't put yourself in a position for a refs call or no call to affect the outcome of the game. Beechwood did not manage the clock well, and on 2nd and 2 had time for a couple of passes but chose to run and blow the clock. Hopefully, they will go back and practice time management in case they find themselves in a similar situation. In a playoff game, it can mean the difference between playing next week or looking forward to basketball season.

The one accurate thing you said was that the refs need to be fired. However, the back judge never called it a touchdown, and if you're going to say Elliott got in, which he didn't, it wasn't even close to four feet across. Everyone that had a good view of it whether they think he was in or not said it was by an inch in either direction.

 

Now to the point about the refs, there were bad calls made all night. Isler's spot on the crucial fourth and short wasn't right. They forgot to signal to run the clock on CovCath's final possesion when it should have been running which added an extra 30 seconds. The fumble where the back was ruled down and anyone who saw it live or watching the replay on TV will say he wasn't even close to being down.

 

If as a Beechwood fan you're going to say the refs cost you that game, then any CovCath fan could say that the refs gave you a chance to win that game when you shouldn't of even had one.

As a Beechwood Fan, I will just say the refs cost us a chance to TIE.

 

Seems the main take on this thread is that the game was lost by time management, play calling, and the like. Those things, to me, indicate that it wasn't the PLAYERS lack of spirit, talent, or dedication.

 

Both teams played with tons of heart and emotion. Guys, hold your heads up. Enjoy the memory of playing an intense game.

Just watched the replay. This won't go down in the "how to manage the clock" book.

 

Two key plays:

 

1. Elliotts keeper around the end where he dove towards the goal line. Gets tackled with about 1:22 left but no TO is called for about 30 to 35 seconds.

 

2. Bankemper dives over the left side and gets stuffed. Whistle blows but Bankemper keeps fighting (despite whistle) and then runs all the way around to the other side, clock running, TO finally called about 15 seconds after the play was whistled dead.

 

That's 45 to 50 seconds wasted.

Like I said earlier, the refs were bad both ways. I will say this in response to the CCH fans eluding to the fumble where the player was called down, it was a fumble, bad call. Now, what about the CCH running back that had the ball literaly stripped, taken away before any whistle and he never did hit the ground and the refs ruled him down. Point, two bad calls against each.

Someone said he was short, well, on the TV replay I watched and also the orig. game film, I see another BHS player picking Elliott up after this play and he is actually laying almost full body in the end zone. The back judge verbally called(said) he is in, TD roll off easy.

 

Bottom line, CCH wins and no sense in beating a dead horse in the mouth. I said this was a bad crew before the game even started not because of all the bad, missed calls, they are just bad known from past yrs of watching them try to ref a game. There are some good crews in NKY and this game deserved a better crew than what was sent to do it.

Just watched the game on ICN6. I am hearing all about the Ellliot kid being in; but how about aiding the ball carrier by number 4, shown plain as day in the film. How about ya, Reggie Bush?

I'll that I couldn't tell on the ICN6 view. No goal line shot. However, I must admit that unless they called him down because of forward progress stopped, he got a big push from behind that seemed to put him in.

That's unfortunate. He took a shot on the play where he rolled out and dove.I think Fagan got him in the thigh.

Great game and a great way for the seniors to go out. Thats true Friday night lights! They view i had of the final play was about as good as it can get on the sideline feet on either side of the goal line. To me it looked short and the side judge confirmed my opinion.

Lets save the rumors until you can actually confirm them. The last thing that any athlete needs is someone taking pot shots at them because they heard that the player in question was hurt from reading this website.

 

The only thing that I will say is this: people keep bringing up clock management. It just goes to show that many of you don't see things out side of what you normally see. If Beechwood scores .... and whether they kick or go for 2 ... there is no time on the clock. I doubt that many of you can/will wrap your mind around that one.
