Sorry about the rumor spreading. Good luck getting rid of rumors on blogs. As for the clock management, read the quotes from Coach Rash. Fact: he's blaming himself for mismanaging the clock. Very easy for this novice to understand what Coach Rash was trying to say.

Just watched the game on ICN6. I am hearing all about the Ellliot kid being in; but how about aiding the ball carrier by number 4, shown plain as day in the film. How about ya, Reggie Bush?

They mismanaged the clock and it cost them. When your fullback is having to rush to the line to take the final snap because the team is in disarray as the clock is heading towards zero, you mismanaged the clock. Are you telling me you can't wrap your mind around that one? Heck, even Noel said he could have managed the clock better.

I would say that Coach Rash probably had faith in the fact that the Tigers were going to score--and he wanted the game to be over.

 

If it works--he is a genius. IF it doesn't (like this case)...he mans up and takes responsibility for his thought process. Losing stinks...but life goes on.

 

For the record...the Marvin Lewis comment was a compliment. There may be 4 or 5 guys who post here who have actually COACHED in the heat of a battle like this. It is much easier to play or to watch the Bengals and pretend that you have better answers. In reality--it is EASY to sit back with hind sight and to think that you have better answers. But the truth of the matter is...most coaches (including Marvin Lewis) know their opponent in/out by game day. And understand the best way to handle a game.

 

If you think you know that much more than any coach...go do the kids a favor and offer your services....

I think it was second down with 24 seconds left and no timeouts. You could pass on second, pass on third, and run the sneak on fourth. You get three plays instead of one. Now if that is not poor clock managment I guess that I don't understand football.

If Beechwoods coach is more concerned with giving CCH 24 seconds to score then scoring themselves, then he out thought himself. CCH does not have what most consider an explosive offense.

It is easy to watch on TV and second guess coaches. The game is faster and more complicated when you are coaching. I am sure that Beechwood will think about how to handle this situation better.

Any high school coach who thinks one second about how much time is left on the clock rather than "how are we going to score" has been watching way too many Indianapolis Colts games. I would give just about any high school team a couple of minutes and still feel confident they would not score. The Beechwood coaches should have been yelling their heads off for somone to spike the ball on that last play. It was only 3rd down. They would have had ample time to get a QB in the game for the injured Elliott. I'm sure they learned a lot and there were many players and coaches involved in the last series that have never been in that situation before. Coach Rash and his staff are smart enough to get something in place and the next time they will be successful.

Therefore, the clock should have been stopped w/a few seconds left, ball marked on the 5/6 yard line and then had one more shot at the end zone.

 

There were alot of things that should have, could have been called at the end of the game: point being the refs were clueless and had no idea what to call. It was a big game and a crucial part of the game and they blew it all the way around no matter what team you cheer for.

Punthe ball got it right! If Rash is worrying about leaving 24 seconds on the clock when he has not yet scored the tieing td, he needs to do something else for a living. Quickslick...you need to re-think that one and stop being so condescending about how much more forethought you have than others.

I think BHS's staff is more than qualified to figure out how to manage the clock. W/7 out of 10 coaches playing college ball, believe me, there was alot of thinking at the end of that game. I think everyone would agree, you have to believe your team, no matter who you are or playing, would think they will score from the 1 yd line.

It was a great game to watch and a great game for the CCH Sr's and hopefully the city and the school. Hey back at you genius, clock does not stay stopped for an offensive penalty. Offense cannot create a situation where a penalty is to their advantage when it comes to the clock stopping. I'm not sure if high school has the equivalent, but in the pros there is some kind of run off of the clock. Time ran out with BHS scrambling with their QB hurt and an extra down to play. What more proof do you need that it was bad clock management. The coaches have to account for the possiblity that they don't get in on 2nd down whether it's the defense stopping them or a bad call. I'm going to throw one more totally blown call. How about the pass interference that was not called on 3rd down? That would have been a first deep in BSH territory. The receiver was clearly hit early even though he caught the ball, it's still a penalty.

One thing for sure, this will make for an intersting NKY Top 10 this week...
