There was talk this weekend that Jordan Adams may be moving back to Scott Co. (family issues may be resolved; not related to Bud getting in trouble) I would think he would be in the starting line up if this is true.

Guyn has been playing well from what I have heard, but so has long time reserve Marcus Birchfield.

 

I don't think this is at the forefront of anyone's concerns in Scott Co. at this point. SC basketball is family - one of the family is in trouble right now. End of story.

Lineup will almost assuredly be Guyn, Portwood, Hundley, Phares, Lee. I have heard a kid was already in the works of coming back to town a little while back. Could shake things up. Also the other kid who plays some guard, his name escapes me now, could compete for a starting spot over Portwood or Hundley.

No one will compete for a starting spot with Cam Hundley. Of the players you mention, Cam is the player that is assured a starting spot. He had a monster state tournament last year and always gets the assignment of stopping the other teams big guns.

Lets not be naive here. If he has an ample amount of drugs be it Mowy Wowy or Crack do you think he is really stockpiling it for rainy days when he wants to get high.

Not being naive at all....just playing the devil's advocate here. As a matter of fact I agree with you..my question was...1: Did anyone WITNESS him deal or 2: Legally,does the quantity in possesion preclude that he was dealing? Just curious from a legal standpoint.

those are both good questions, I guess we will find out here soon. Its just a shame that a kid who probably has the talent to excel at the collegiate level and possibly play in the NBA one day just throws it all away. I just cant believe what these kids are thinking.

The article says they found cocaine IN HIS POSESSION and that he smelled of marijuana..my question is this...does posession automatically constitute intent to distribute? I was of the belief that trafficking meant that someone actually SAW you sell the drug. Don't get me wrong..posession is a serious offense,but does posession on school property mean an intent to sell..HEARSAY.....ATTICUS?????

 

Here is the statute and a case showing that trafficking can be without having any cocaine on you at all.

 

218A.1412 Trafficking in controlled substance in first degree; penalties

 

 

 

 

(1) A person is guilty of trafficking in a controlled substance in the first degree when he knowingly and unlawfully traffics in: a controlled substance, that is classified in Schedules I or II which is a narcotic drug; a controlled substance analogue; lysergic acid diethylamide; phencyclidine; a controlled substance that contains any quantity of methamphetamine, including its salts, isomers, and salts of isomers; gamma hydroxybutyric acid (GHB), including its salts, isomers, salts of isomers, and analogues; or flunitrazepam, including its salts, isomers, and salts of isomers.

My guess, for a first time offender, would be his case will be diverted; meaning he pleas guilty and gets jail time over his head. If he behaves himself the next few years his case would be dismissed with no felony on his record. Seems like a soft punishment BUT in diversion a prosecutor RECOMMENDS a period of jail to serve in prison and in the event a defendant violates his agreement (fails a drug test, fails to pay court costs, new arrest, etc.) he serves the recommended jail time. The key element of diversion is the defendant pleads guilty but doesn't get sentenced unless he breaks the rules. No charge Owsley King.

I worry more for Mackey than Billy and Scott County.

It was my understanding before this episode the other two guard spots were still up for grabs in some combination of the three of Hundley, Portwood, and Guyn. I think Cam could be a nice 6th man.

If you read the article, the superintendent Blankenship mentions how he has never been in trouble.

Kid is missing from class and it is known he is at school-call the office.

Office checks to make sure he wasnt checked out or something-he wasnt-go find him. This is procedure for ANY kid in just about ANY high school. I know it was in mine.

If it werent the first time, he wouldnt have made that statement. He would have went about his words the other way. Dallas Blankenship is a man that knows what he is doing and knows how to choose his words.

Bud is not a saint, as was stated earlier. He has made mistakes before this, but you dont really know here. You are usually spot on with things. Bottom line, you are not here.

An actual deal does not have to occure to charge with trafficking. And also the amount does not have to be that large. If the cocaine is packaged in a way that is consistent with trafficking or large sums of money accompanying the drug there is probable cause to believe he was trafficking.

I couldn't agree more. Selling cocaine in school? Its time to go to jail for a haul. Its tough to play basketball when you are behing bars. It is also tough for a coach to look at himself in the mirror and allow a felon to remain on his team.

I can't claim this one but...
