Scott County's Mackey arrested

The Courier-Journal

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – Bud Mackey, who led Scott County High to the boys’ basketball state championship last spring and has committed to play at Indiana University, is in jail after being arrested on charges of cocaine trafficking.

I was trying to figure out his age before I posted this. Terrible news. He just threw it all away...

As soon as we found out we were searching to find out how old he is. I called my son and he said he was indeed 18 then I found the story in the Courier-Journal that confirmed this.

Are we to assume IU will pull the scholly? I mean, trafficking is a serious crime. He might be doing some hard time.

I would be surprised if they didn't. According to the story he's being charged with two felony accounts.

I heard he was charged with two felony counts.

Although, I seriously doubt that Sampson turns his back on him right now.

Honestly, I'm the biggest IU fan on here, most likely, and him playing for IU is the least of my concerns right now. I hope he gets his life straightened out and he gets the help he so clearly needs.

The Courier-Journal article says the same thing you did about the charges. The second part of your post is the most important thing.

Right, and that being said.

What an idiot. :madman:

I had a cousin who did the same thing he had a very bright basketball future but threw it all away. What a shame.

Both of the charges are very serious but I have a questions. Would the one trafficking within a 1000 yards of a school be the most serious one?

I would think. I mean, this isn't marijuana were talking about here...

I would be surprised if Indiana doesn't pull the scholarship.

Talking to some in the know, it would be very unlike Sampson to just pull the scholarship. I would expect him to see what happens legally and then make a decision on what they do.
