September 29, 200718 yr IU needs to drop the kid... There had been rumors of this out there... This isn't weed, this is crack cocaine...he has bypassed college and is on the NBA level. Crack cocaine....far more serious than a marijuana issue.
September 29, 200718 yr Wow. I mean, isnt that about all you can say at something like this. You have to wonder what the kid is thinking. It's dumb in and of itself, but to bring it to school?
September 29, 200718 yr Very sad, why would someone with such a bright future throw it all away? Like LABS stated, this isn't maryjane, crack cocaine is a drug that destroys people and their families.
September 29, 200718 yr Terrible decision by Mr. Mackey. I hope he gets straightened out. And contrary to what some might think, I can safely say that I speak for my fellow MC Royals fans. This is NOT the kind of news that we want to hear. A young man may have just flushed his life down the toilet (although that remains to be seen, I guess), and if so, it's tragic. Not something for competitors or rival schools to thump their chests about.
September 29, 200718 yr I heard he was charged with two felony counts. Although, I seriously doubt that Sampson turns his back on him right now. Honestly, I'm the biggest IU fan on here, most likely, and him playing for IU is the least of my concerns right now. I hope he gets his life straightened out and he gets the help he so clearly needs. Not knowing all or most of the details surrounding these events, or what is going on in his life right now, I would hope that a coach just doesn't turn his back on him right now. Just take a wait and see approach, let everything play out. You are right, there are more important things in his life that he needs to deal with right now, hopefully IU will tell him they are there for him and once he gets his life issues figured out and help, then they will talk about him playing later. Too many kids think that selling this garbage is an easy way to make money, even kids who come from well to do families and have almost everything handed to them do this.
September 29, 200718 yr Author I did not think we were aloud to discuss this stuff on Blue Grass preps... Sure Mason COunty is smiling from ear to ear to here this, Poor Hicks Here is rule #9: 9. No discussion of ANY criminal behavior (charged or uncharged) in the high school forums. Discussion of adult criminal behavior is permitted in all non-high school forums. However, discussion of criminal behavior by juveniles (anyone under 18) is never permitted anywhere on BGP.
September 29, 200718 yr Horrible news. At this point its not about state championships, Mr. Basketball, or scholarships. Its about a kid ruining his future and prison.
September 29, 200718 yr I have heard some speculation he is already in process of leaving Scott County. If the offense occurred on school grounds that should be an automatic expulsion. To keep the expulsion off his record he will need to leave school before the hearing with the school board and I had heard, nothing factual, that the process for that has already happened.
September 29, 200718 yr I don't think expulsion from high school would be Mackey's biggest concern right now. It is my understanding that Scott Co High School officials had Mackey arrested.
September 29, 200718 yr Author According to an update on WKYT's website this morning, he's being held on $10,000 cash bond and will be in court on Tuesday. http://www.wkyt.com/home/headlines/10119206.html

Very sad case but often common just look at Duran Jefferson. You sometmes cant take the street thug out of a kid just because he is an outstanding athlete. If he leaves no worries, another Mr. B-Ball candidate will transfer in.
September 29, 200718 yr Author Here is the latest from the Lexington Hearld-Leader. It contains statements from Coach Hicks. Lexington Hearld-Leader Article
