September 24, 200718 yr At least the Reds kept the notorious fair-weather Cincy fans around for a couple of months...they'll be wagon jumping by the time Marvin finishes his in depth explanations of the game at tomorrow's presser...
September 24, 200718 yr Hate to bring it up for the 3rd straight game but the Offense has played well in 2 of the 3 games, the D has played one great game, one decent game and one terrible game. The ST's have played horribly in all three games. They can only get better but the shuffling of players on ST's is a major concern. The allow a huge return, have to resort to squibbing so they can potentially stop the big run back, fumble on a return...can they turn it around? Also calling Rudi overrated is very funny, I prefer the adjective "dependable" when it comes to RJ. It all comes down to the front 5, the line's consistency has been inconsistent due to injuries. Rudi is a between the tackles type of back, right now Williams is the only starter playing where he should, when Willie is on the field he has two OLine regulars.
September 24, 200718 yr Rudi is overrated, he runs straight up and down, into his lineman and falls down if someone puts a hand on him. I dont know how he gets the yrds and td's he does but at the end of the year he is always up there. I hate that pitch play to Rudi....its a train wreck everytime. Lets be honest folks, Carson Palmer's turnovers lost this game for us. He is awesome and 9 out of 10 times he will shine but yesterday he was off. The Defense played well enough to win but we should have been up 2 Td's at halftime. I thought he should have gone underneath more to TJ or Chad instead of trying for the long ball so much. We truly miss Chris Henry and it showed yesterday. I have to give kudos to those fill in LB's Jones/Schlegel/Marshall for stepping in with no continuity and playing with a lot of heart. I thought that call when Hasselback caught the deflection was the worst call of the day. He clearly caught it and it was no fumble as the ground caused it to squirt out. The referee's explanation as to why it was an incomplete pass was HORRIBLE. That would have been an 8 yrd loss and 2nd and 18. Instead it was 2nd and 10 and they kept marching. KEY play there. Josephs is toast, Madieu is getting there, Hall played well yesterday but is a rookie, Oneal missed a laydown intercption and had his share of toast plays. Our DB's are all 1st and 2nd rounders and IMO are stinking it up this year. Our D line is decent vs the RUN but cannot pass rush. We have problems and it will be ugly next Monday night. I already donated 2 future home game tickets of mine to the less fortunate.
September 24, 200718 yr Lets face it Bengal Fans. We have several injuries, players suspended, inconsistent play in the DB and a highly overpaid Defensive Lineman. Who is out? Odell, Pollack, Jenty, Tab Perry, Chris Henry, Chris Perry, Ahmad Brooks, Kilmer, Rudi J, etc etc Henry and c Perry is major as they add more potent weapons and the LB situation goes without saying.
September 24, 200718 yr Does anyone know why Glen Holt wasn't playing receiver yesterday?A week ago he came in and was a major factor in the game.I think they must want Green to be the man now instead of letting Holt play.It was Tab Perry before and now Green, they don't want to let him play for some reason.Yes he fumbled the last kick off but that was at the end of the game.
September 24, 200718 yr I'm curious as to what the Bengals saw that made them take so many shots downfield. The safety was always there to help (I guess they didn't really worry about a TE hurting them). I'm sure Marvin will clue us in today. I hope he speaks very slowly so I can keep up.
September 24, 200718 yr I hope he speaks very slowly so I can keep up. Nicely done. You didn't like the repetitive shots deep into double and triple coverage?
September 24, 200718 yr Nicely done. You didn't like the repetitive shots deep into double and triple coverage? My thought was that the #3 option NEVER got open... Maybe I just hoped that's what was happening...
September 24, 200718 yr They'll lose next week and go to 1-3, but don't fret, Cincy will make the playoffs and go 10-6. Look at the remainder of the schedule. Even if they lose both to Pitt and @ Balt (which I think they'll take atleast 1 of 3), there is no one else on the schedule that, IMO, they will lose to... You may not have been keeping up with the ongoing drama "how many ways can you lose a football game" - otherwise known as the Cincinnati Bengals. Songs have even been written about it. Bengals can lose a football game in ways like no other, they "snatch defeat from the jaws of victory." :sssh:  Sport song artist Ryan Parker from Flatwoods, Ky. had a song about this check out http://www.ryanparkersongs.com and click on the "How many ways to lose a game"song. Parker also has several other sport songs on that site that are very good.
September 24, 200718 yr One good thing from the game, and I'm hoping it carries into others as well. LB Jones definitely stepped up and made some plays yesterday at LB and on special teams. What's Caleb Millers status, never heard much after he left the game?
September 24, 200718 yr Tough thing is already being 2 behind the Steelers. Are we talking wild card only 3 games in?
September 24, 200718 yr They'll lose next week and go to 1-3, but don't fret, Cincy will make the playoffs and go 10-6. Look at the remainder of the schedule. Even if they lose both to Pitt and @ Balt (which I think they'll take atleast 1 of 3), there is no one else on the schedule that, IMO, they will lose to... Ok, I will agree that Cincy will probably take 1 of 3 in the Pitt/Balt games, but to think that they will run the tables on the rest is very funny. Lets check the schedule. # Week 1 # Week 6 Chiefs 10/14 1:00 # Week 7 Jets 10/21 4:05 # Week 9 Bills 11/4 1:00 # Week 11 Cardinals 11/18 1:00 # Week 12 Titans 11/25 1:00 # Week 14 Rams 12/9 1:00 # Week 15 49ers 12/15 8:15 # Week 16 Browns 12/23 1:00 # Week 17 Dolphins 12/30 1:00 I see at least 3 loses, from either getting out played or giving wins away. That my friend equals 8-8 season!:sssh:
September 24, 200718 yr Interesting blurb in the paper.... Maybe the Bengals should give more playing time at cornerback to Keiwan Ratliff, who was not a first-round draft pick (as Joseph and Hall were) but who players say makes things difficult in practice for Carson Palmer http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/AB/20070924/SPT02/709240367/ Question for those who are more knowledgeable about football than me. It never seems that our CB's ever jam the WR at the line of scrimmage. On the last play, it seems a little hit there disrupts the pattern/timing of the offense and gives Williams time to get over. Williams even hints to something in his comment about the last play. "Every zone has a hole," said cornerback Jonathan Joseph, who had the short-route responsibility on the play, and so allowed Burleson to run past him. "They just happened to find it." Said Williams: "I'm not going to go into it. The fact is, the play wasn't made."
