September 24, 200718 yr This puts the Bengals in a bad spot. They basically have to beat the best team in Football this coming week in New England,They loose this game and they go 1-4 and we all know what that means no playoffs in the AFC.:scared:
September 24, 200718 yr I guess we will have to find a back who rushes for more than 1500 and 12 touchdowns each year since there so easy to come by. Rudi doesn't do enough. Rudi is holding this franchise back.... LETS not blame the D who looks as bad as Louisville.... it's all Rudi.... It is not your fault JJ, Djack, or Leon.. it's Rudi. ????? Do you honestly think that if we stuck another runningback in the backfield that they wouldn't be successful. Its alot like the Colts, you could pretty much stick anyone in there and the runningback will do just fine. I mean they let James go, and their running game is still as good as ever. Rudi I will say is a above average back, but no where close to being great. I think we could go with a back that could give us close to that production of Rudi, but also give the offense the ability to actually break a long run, besides having to only rely on the pass for any big gains. I dont think it is just this game that has people turning on Rudi, this has been building for awhile. We probably should have alot more longer runs over the pass few years than we have had with this offense. Rudi except for his first year as the starter when he took over for the injured Dillon, has not shown at all that he can break long runs..
September 24, 200718 yr I've said, he's a decent back. In order to be an elite team, you need to have an elite back or 2 very good ones. The Bengals IMO have neither. I'm not so sure about the need of elite backs to be an elite team. I can't even remember Chicagos back last year. I wouldn't place NEs backs in an elite status. Also how elite are these backs if teams have 2 of them?

The Pats have Sammy Morris and Laurence Maroney....Again 2 good backs. Last year they had Dillion and Maroney.

September 24, 200718 yr I'm just going on the record saying that Rudi is a VERY AVERAGE RB. I really just don't like his running style. And this year it's just not working. Rudi is NOT the reason we lost the game. As SA stated, lots of other issues. Just saying that Waton's running style is a lot more effective, as shown today. :thumb: I do think Rudi had about as much to do with it as the D did today. If they give up 24 points every game, I like the Bengals chances normally.
September 24, 200718 yr The D played well enough to win today. They weren't the problem. Yeah they did.... JJ is still at Quest field trying to find Burleson.. Hall is helping with a flashlight.
September 24, 200718 yr Those are "elite" backs?? No....I said either have 1 elite back, or 2 good backs. The Bengals have 1 "good" back.
September 24, 200718 yr We need to somehow get to 4 and 4 by the time Chris Henry, and Chris Perry can play again..
September 24, 200718 yr No....I said either have 1 elite back, or 2 good backs. The Bengals have 1 "good" back. Misread the post. I still don't think having an elite back is key to being an elite team. Name the top backs over last couple of years and tell us how many Super Bowls that LT, Alexander, LJ have played in. There are much bigger factors involved in being an elite team. Since we're on the subject who do we consider the elite teams? I'll give you NE and Indy.

I know the Chargers have struggled thus far, but they've faced 3 of the best D's in the NFL. I think they'll get it together and go on a big run.
