Both games on the road. One an intense rivalry game. One a blowout. Win over a highly touted TM team and another win over a district team loaded with seniors on the road also. Bash all you want.

I agree, there was no need for RylePyle to bring up the coulda, woulda's. Highlands pounded his team and he wants to bash. Who did Ryle lose to this week? Oh, thats right SK a real powerhouse.

You know as a CCH alum('02), I have tremendous respect for Highlands. I was honestly expecting a blow out. If you sit back and watch and see the whole picture, there is no reason to act foolish and bash anyone. After the game, I could've bashed many Highlands fans and even smarted off to Chris Collinsworth who was standing right next to me, but what would that do? Instead I thanked them for coming and wished them a safe trip home and good luck the rest of the season. Why? It just feels like the right thing to do. I and many of us CCH alums we're not brought up to act like that just as I'm sure many others from Highlands, Ryle, and whoever weren't brought up like that. So point being, let's sit back, enjoy each others perspectives and be friendly. Life is too short to argue and bash other Northern Kentuckians and more importantly fellow americans.

 

On a side note though, I and a few other CCH alums do care about this program and after talking to Coach Brossart after the game and when the crowd was already gone, about 3pm, we discussed "how" we can bring this program to the top. A few former players who have played at WKU against the likes of Auburn, and Georgia the past few years have taken an interest in getting this program to where it should be, ie(weights, attitude, intensity, toughness). Just thought I'd pass that on to any CCH backers who we're interested.

Didn't CovCath just win State last year. The whole program is in trouble after 5 games? Give the guy a chance. I thought Highlands fan's were demanding but you guy's must be crazy.

Nice post, although I'd be surprised, really surprised if Cris had said anything less than complimentary about CovCath. Not his style at all.

 

I didn't expect a blow out. As at least one CovCath fan on here knows, I expected it to be closer than a lot of Highlands and CovCath fans expected it to be. The underdog really gets up for this game; always has and probably always will. As CovCath's o line gets seasoned and Buckley returns, the CovCath O will really come around.

 

I figured we'd have some troubles running the ball against CovCath. As good as our o line can be, they are still very green with only one returning starter. Against a defense like CovCath's, with a lot of stunting and movement after we've made assignments but before we've snapped the ball, our inexperience showed at times. Plus our running backs have to do a better job run and pass blocking when they are not running the ball.

 

Penalties and turnovers really hurt the Birds in this game. I think if we'd have done a better job avoiding mistakes, we'd have added a couple of tds. But those things happen in big games, so I was not the least bit surprised when that happened.

 

Part of me expects CovCath to beat Dixie the next time they match up and part does not. CovCath's defensive backs still have a way to go. A couple of long passes that were completed Saturday would have been interceptions last year. If the defensive backs don't improve, Dixie will prevail. If they do improve, then I expect CovCath to prevail if Buckley is back by then. CovCath will go with a ball control run offense that will really cut down on the number of Dixie possessions. That should be a whale of a game and set up an interesting rematch with the winner against Highlands at Highlands. Whomever the opponent, I expect Highlands to win. In spite of the only two td victory against CovCath, I think Highlands is a two or three touchdown better team than either CovCath or Dixie.

 

But there is a lot of football yet to be played and who knows when a key player or two is going to get hurt. Hopefully that won't happen, but its football and it does happen, and when it does, depth comes into play.

I was agreeing with you until you mentioned Collinsworth. Why would you choose him to "smart off" to? If you are insinuating that Collinsworth said something to upset you, not buying it. You were upset because you lost, not because of anything Cris could have said. Cris, of anyone, is always complimentary to all the kids on the teams and to everyone he encounters. Never hear him say anything negative about anyone. Always has a positive word and many times to the opposing players.
