  1. I was reading this whole thread LOL.
  2. Ok, after spending 30 or so minutes reading almost every comment on this thread, I have to comment. As a CCH grad (it's been a little bit), I have to say that 1) I respect Highlands, 2) I am happy for their huge win over St. X, 3) It's great they beat St. X because I know how those Ohio folks seem to look down on us KY folks, 4) The Highlands community is something every community should strive for, and 5) Can't we all just get along? I mean I have had some immature feelings towards Highlands while I was in High School but that's exactly what it was:immaturity. I have since grown past that and have learned to appreciate and respect them. I truly believe that both CCH and Highlands both respect each other although it may seem otherwise. I have met and partied with Highlands grads and you know what? They aren't yellow, purple, or even crazy weird. They are mostly just like you and I, wanting the best for their kids and schools. Is that really that bad? So, I don't know about how others feel, but I don't even look at it like a CCH vs Highlands thing anymore. I look at it like it's just two different but very similar types of people all striving for the same thing. I hope my posts makes sense and I hope I did not offend anyone because that is truly not my intention. With love.......The Beck
  3. Congrats to Colonel Bieger. Colonel Bieger is an intense man who I respect and think will do a fine job at Cooper. Those who know the "Colonel" Bieger know he will do just fine. He was a legend at Cov Cath, and i'm sure he'll add to his legacy at Cooper.
  4. I wanted to add a little more about some of the kids who stood out to me. #14 from CCH looks like a great athlete and I think is only a sophomore. He was on the kickoff team and WOW he had a great hit on someone when breaking up the wedge. I could hear the impact from where I was standing. Just looking at the kid, he seems to have the body to be able to put on more weight the next few years. Does anyone else know more about who this is and what he's all about. Please post if you do. Thanks
  5. Congrats to Coach Hornsby. I always had a lot of respect for Coach Hornsby although he does love Louisville. Go Coach and Go Ludlow.
  6. After being down 20-0 it was great to see some heart from the Colonels and put the ball in the end zone before the half. This being my first game of the year, and not knowing much about this team, I will say this: 1. The catch and run by #9 Van Sant with the cutback across the field for the TD was absolutely fantastic and what a nice little block at the end zone by I think #18 to let Van Sant run in without any trouble. 2. The long run by #42 Deters down the sideline was amazing. At about the 20 he was running toe to toe to I think # 10 from NCC and got pushed towards the sideline but maintained his balance and tip toed into the endzone and that right there made me say WOW! 3. NCC has a tough bunch of kids and the Kelly brothers are tough, hard nosed runners. I love that about them. They are like machines and just keep pounding the ball. They definately don't go down on first contact. 4. NCC's QB is also a great athlete. He has a beautiful spiral and is a key weapon to have. To me, he played great and with a lot of guts. Overall, a great High School football game to be at, and a game I love to watch every year. Let's keep this game going.
  7. Please do tell if anyone does know. CovCath's school website has it announced as TBA. Thanks
  8. Being a longtime follower of CCH, my heart says go CCH but I really don't know much about both teams this year so it's really hard to say who may win but I did vote for CCH because that is where my heart is. All I can say is that these are two great programs with a lot of class and good luck to both teams tomorrow night. GO COLONELS though!!
  9. That a way Holmes. We're pulling for you hear at my house(all CovCath alums) Go Bulldogs..........win State! You can do it!!
  10. Let's go Bulldogs!!! Bring one home to NKY!!
  11. This one is one of those games where it's hard to pick who may win. I mean, Highlands has a great team, and CovCath has looked rocky early on, but I believe these boys from CCH believe they can win. I can't decide but I will say this..........we all know not to count CCH out so I wouldn't be surprised if CCH wins this game. Good luck to both teams......it should be a dandy.
  12. Anyone know if they have pre sale tickets available? And what time would you recommend getting there? Any info would be appreciated.
  13. If CCH wins.......great..........and if Dixie wins..........oh well.......If CCH loses to Dixie twice.........it's gonna happen sooner or later. But good luck to both teams friday night. I would love to be there but can't.
  14. You guys aren't giving the boys in blue much of a shot here. I know I know, it may be a long night, but I for one will never count out CCH. Not saying they will win, but I expect a hard fought match and if CCH doesn't win then I still expect a good fight. Never count them blue boys out.
  15. Was there and all I can say is it was a hard fought game and both teams should be proud. As for the lighting, it wasn't the greatest but hey it got the job done and what a great atmosphere. Loved it. And boy are some of those Beechwood boys big. WOW!! Looks like CCH is getting better each week, but still a long way to go. I for one, wouldn't want to play them in the playoffs.
  16. NewCath- Steve Everson('02).........I just remember him being a workhorse on some not so balanced teams. Imagine what he would've done on NCC's state teams. WOW!! I loved watching this kid.
  17. Well, on paper I'd have to go with Beechwood. But with Coach Brossart being a Beechwood alum, he's telling his CCH boys exactly what the other team is thinking about them(he knows from experience) and that will get 'em fired up. And include the first night game, and senior night, emotions will be high and this Colonel will never count out the Colonels, especially with that "with a spirt, that will not die!" attitude. Plus, this senior class is going for the unheard of 4 game sweep of the Beechies. So let's keep the streak alive, and here's to a hard fought injury free game. I'm taking the Colonels!! Good luck Beechwood and CCH.
  18. From CCH, and my memory only goes back to around 1993-1994, so I'd have to say Top 5 in no particular order: Jeremy Madden('98)-tough, hard nosed kid Cole Chadwick('01)-career yards record holder, stepped up big sophomore year after Madden graduated. Galen Healy('95)-God rest his soul, but he was a tough little back too Mitchell Jobe(?)-just remember his name pretty well Rick Hornsby('70?)-was too young too remember, but his name was/is all plastered over the record books, and heard he was a beast. Great guy and great teacher too.
  19. Ok, I watched the replay of the game last night on ICN6 and saw the interview in question. In my personal opinion, I can see where many might think Coach Ray took a shot at HHS and Coach Mueller but he answered the question and in "his" opinion the reason he thought they we're passing still in the 2nd half was to put more points on the board and maybe try and make the game a blow out. Nothing wrong with HHS doing that, nothing wrong with winning a game decisively. Now I can understand where Coach Ray is coming from because in this intense rivalry, there is a lot of emotion involved and I'm sure there is always someone out there accusing HHS of "running up the score," and it just so happened it was COach Ray. Now, I don't think the man is still bitter. He got a few "sweet" wins vs HHS, and now the man plays golf all summer and teaches full time. It looked to me that COach Ray looked younger than when I had him as a teacher and a whole lot less stressed out too, so good for him. Now for those of us that know Coach Ray, I think we can all say that he's a laidback, sometimes intense man with a very good sense of humor. With that being said, I'd have to come to the conclusion that this was no big deal, just one man stating his opinion, just like I and I hope and pray we can all respect that and move on.
  20. Oh definately Birdsfan........ thanks for the card and all you did. I can't ever thank you enough. Sorry, I kind of disappeared but I trust you guys understand the life and how busy it got for me being all over the world. But i'm back for good and ready for some good times. Would love to meet you to. Let's make it happen.
  21. leatherneck, I have tremendous respect for everyone on here as well as HHS as a school and as an athletic program. I'm with you on the toast. Take care.
  22. cshs81, I gotcha. I totally understand. It's good to be back on here and good to be back in the states and NKY safe and sound. I have missed this place.
  23. cshs81, I like ya bud......I agree it's tough. But just to let you guys know, I'm not new around here. I've been reading this board since it started in 2001, just never posted on here much. Always liked sitting back and hearing people's perspectives. Also had an old account, Colonel4Life, yet in past year haven't been on here as much so that account got deleted I guess. If you remember, I sent pictures in from my tour overseas two summers ago. Just wanted to clear that up. Don't want people to think I'm some young punk running my mouth. I want to get along with everyone and I do really enjoy reading this.
  24. cshs81, I just believe in my heart that we can get to where Highlands is. And that's saying a lot about HHS. I respect them tremendously. Even have friends from there. CCH has the resources to be where Highlands is. That's all i'm saying.
  25. Hey guys, Cris didn't say anything. Let's get that straight. All I was saying was I could've been a fool and talked smack. I'm just saying, as you get older and realize some things, there would be no reason to start anything. Somethings you did in high school, you now realize we're just childish and foolish. I'm with you guys here. I think you guys just misunderstood my post. I'm not saying anything happened. Everyone was great as far as I'm concerned. I'm not saying CCH should panic. Was just stating that we as alums care and want to help anyway we can. That's all. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
