Speaking of district battles, does anyone other than me feel odd at playing two district games in week 3 and 4? I don't know that this game is a do or die for Dixie this year. These two team WILL play each other again in the playoffs. that is the game that counts, this is just a warmup. With that said, I picked Dixie to win.

 

BTW - And what is the "Dale is mad!" thing all about? If he gets mad at what a reporter chooses to print of what a high school kid told him after a huge personal performance and team win over arch rival CCH he's an idiot. I don't take Dale for an idiot.

The Dale is MAD thing is kind of a running Joke. After the 97 season he kept repeating that they were on a mission, that they were soooooo mad!!!! We all know what 98 brought. The 98 team only scored the most point in United States history. It was a record at one time but not sure if it still is. Don't really care if you ask me. The only thing that matters is to get back to where we want to be. And that is State Champions!!!! No matter what teams we destroy in our path. Sorry guys, Highlands will once again show why Tom despises his once beloved Bluebirds.

I didn't think he despised them one bit. As a matter of fact I think he has a great deal of respect and reverence for the bluebirds, after all he is an alum.

We went onto Dixie's field a few years ago, confident of a win; and we didn't get one. I'll never forget the Dixie players celebrating out front like they'd just won the Super Bowl. I think we'll win; but nothing can be taken for granted.

 

 

I agree with you BF. A lot of teams come onto the field believing they are going to lose to the Birds. I have a feeling the Red Colonels are going to be believing differently and will come out very fired up and motivated. Lets hope they are so jacked up all week, that by the time Friday gets here, they'll be spent :banana:.

 

Its going to be a hard fought game. But I think the Birds will bring their A game and will win by 10 or 14. It will be interesting if the Birds put Collinsworth on Detmer constantly; if so it will be doozy of a match up all night long. Tom knows we are going to blitz the heck out of Bricking, so I'm sure he's working on the short pass routes, screens and draws. Weinrich knows that such is what Tom is going to do, so he's planning for that. Its going to be a chess match when the Red Colonels have the ball. As for when Highlands has the ball, things could be really interesting and fun to watch.

As high powered as our offense is, the strength of our team has and always will be the defense. I should be a great game. I will be very surprised if this game is decided in the first half. IMO the halftime adjustments will decide this game.

Birds by 24-28 but will have a battle early as emotions will be running sky high on Dixie Hwy. If HHS forces TO's it could get a little ugly. On the other hand, Dixie must force TO's to hang around in this one.

I disagree totally. For Dixie to hang around and or to win this one they have to play within themselves. Ignore the occasional HHS score, its going to happen. Just stick to the game plan and carry out your assignments. The Dixie D usually bends but doesn't break. The O needs to remember that and not try and force anything. Play smart and believe. :ylsuper:

What happens when the HHS occasional score is 7 or 8 TD's to the .5 occasional Dixie scores? As far back as I can remember you cant trade touchdowns with fieldgoals and expect to win!

You and I both know that ain't going to happen. Our defense is on par this year. The O is hit or miss at times, but the D is solid. As long as we play with in our selves and don't panic or try to over play it will be a good game.
