You have to pick your poison...Try and lock down our Top 2 receivers and our two tight ends, and you get our sophomore running back who set the school record for rushing yards tonight....

 

Try to stop the run game, and well, I hope your DB's are quick....

 

UK has all-SEC skill people and MTSU has people who didn't make all county in high school and shredded the UL D...talk about picking your poison...it's great that you are still cocky when you should be a nervous wreck...:lol:

Who said I wasn't worried about the defense?...Pretty sure I said UL is definitley going to have their hands full with UK's offense....Next.

 

The question is, can UK stop UL's offense?

There's no question, UofL defense was abhorrent tonight. Inexcusable. Completely dissappointing... for the first half.

 

The thing that leaves me still confident that UK will lose is the fact that this defense is CAPABLE of being a championship defense. Our athletes are sick, but they just wouldn't tackle properly and their effort was pathetic. That's something they surely know, and they certainly will try to make sure that sort of performance never happens again. This I believe. Not just because I'm a bias fan, but because I've seen what the players on defense can do like last season, and even individual plays I've seen players that have impressed me, but there's a ton of rust that needs to be oiled for the machine to work properly. And when it does (please God, let it happen this week), I would HATE to be the opposing offense.

 

Again, UofL defense should pretty much be feeling like Michigan players tonight, and rightfully so. But I'm not as worried as one would expect after this kind of performance. Plus, WWII only got his first PT in the 4th quarter tonight. I expect him to contribute much more in the UK game.

 

Offensive notes:

Anthony Alan AKA Baby Bush, AKA The Karate Kid (billyrayjoebob, even the darkest blue glasses shouldn't be able to keep you from seeing this kid shine). Did anyone else love his ninja-kick over the MTSU player? Next to the Urrutia tip to Douglas, that was my favorite play of the evening.

If only Gary B could've held onto that ball, that would've been one of the more impressive drives I had seen in a while.

Not enough Brock Bolen or Scott Kuhn were used for the O, but that's fine. Save them for when we need them.

I completely agree with Deuce: Urrutias ability to make unbelievable catches and miss things a pee-wee leaguer could snatch is getting realy frustrating.

Harry Douglas is a freak of nature.

Offensive line was decent, but seemed to be driven back a little much for my taste. They did REALLY well on some plays, though. Any word on Wood?

The offense continues to impress. The defense is going to leave them in a lot of shoot outs and I don't doubt the offense's ability to overcome and prevail anyhow. This defense is not that bad, they are playing terrible but they have the talent out there to do it. I really hope they are having a gut check tonight, if it were the Cats in there they may have walked out with a L. I'm not sure if this game was good or bad for UK. On the one hand, Middle Tennessee had their way with UofL's defense, on the other hand, UofL is going to come out with a chip on their shoulder against their in state rival. It is going to be an exciting game.

Couldn't wait to get on here this morning and see the negative and positive spin each teams supporters came up with. As one coach said and I can't remember who it's never as good or bad as it seems. Alot of missed assignments more than anything hurt the defense. Yes they have the athletes to be good, but it takes more then that. After the Murray game you would have thought they would have came out fired up last night to prove themselves that didn't happen. For some reason they're not getting it, whether it's coaching or an inability to grasp it I don't know. Yes the offense is awsome, but how many good defensives has UL faced the past two years. UK's sucked last year and I don't know if it's much better this year, after all EKU didn't have much trouble moving the ball on UK, so the score could be 70-60 next week.

Needless to say, I was shocked. Should be a lot of fun next week. L'ville will have a couple of extra days to prepare for UK.

The offense continues to be amazing....There will be very few, if any, that can even slow down this group. Anthony Allen is a BEAST. Would not suprise me one bit if he turns out better than Mr. Bush. :eek: Urrutia has to stop dropping routine balls...He can make the one handed over 3 DB's catches, but can't catch simple crossing routes...Blows my mind.

 

The defense stunk most of the game...It's almost like they have to be backed in a corner before they decide to play. Mike Cassity better be ripping some rearends this week....

 

As for the game next Saturday, it's FINALLY here!! :ylsuper: :banana: :jump: I knew UK fans would be salivating at this game, and Im glad they are. Heck I would be too....UL's defense definitley has something to prove, and will most certainly have their hands full with UK's offense. While that concerns me, I know our offense can and will score on UK's defense. It should be a fun one in Commonwealth next week....

 

I absolutely think this game will know U of L out of the top 10. Even Bill Curry, whose football IQ is about 74, stated that there are way too many holes in that defense for them to be a top 10 team at this point. I would be shocked if U of L is not in the 11-15 range in the polls this coming week.

How you can mention this defense in the same phrase as championship is beyond me. Can you imagine what Pat White and Steve Slaton would have done last night? If you really believe they are capable of being that good then there is a major, major problem somewhere right now. Why is there so much rust when we're already two games into the season?

I didn't get to see the game, but I don't think I needed to, to say...UGH! to the defense.

 

Thank GOD we could "out-offense" them.

What a night for football Louisville wins, UC wins and Colts win and all three on TV along with my favorite beverage who could ask for anything more. As for Louisville very impressive offensive showing. Defense needs some work and will be there later in the year. Cincinnati played great both offensive and defenesively. Great to see both team's playing well. JD

Allen is no Bush and will not be Bush... 34 carries for 275 yds is nice, but i have to see what he does against a top Defense.

You have to be able to tackle.... it's as simple as that. And the Cardinal defense must have forgotten that last night. I'm sure they'll have everyone reminding them of that today.
