As I posted earlier, I think you can justify choosing either...if you say yes, you're looking at what Billy G has accomplished recruiting-wise in a short time, his past performance, and UK's tradition...if you say no, you're looking at where UK is at right now, you're wondering how Gillispie will fare on the biggest stage, and you're wondering if his recruiting success will stick, or if he got lucky and had PP and Legion land in his lap...to me, either is justified.

I would also add the reason I voted no, and the reason I will say no for all 4 of the teams listed is because getting to a Final Four has to do with a lot of luck and good fortune. It has nothing to do with being one of the best 4 teams... there is a reason there has never been all 4, #1 seeds make it.

I do all of those things as well...but the object is to WIN...and there is a difference in us...if you don't even think you have a shot to make a run at all the marbles, it takes away from the process...

I spend the time between October 15 and March "hoping" they'll be able to make a run at all the marbles, but I enjoy the process all the same during the season. Really, again, the only difference between losing in the round of 16 and the round of 4 is my disappointment starts a week earlier.

 

Obviously, I enjoy my teams winning more than the other, but it doesn't mean the losing seasons are all "doom and gloom". I just try to keep them in perspective (although that isn't always easy).

 

The golf analogy is different because the round of golf is the process. If you told me before I teed off I was shooting an 89 than I would be disappointed and probably not enjoy the process, but alas, I don't know how UK will end up so the process is part of the equation.

 

Long story short, UK missing the Final Four for the next 5 years doesn't automatically bury me in 1,825 days of doom and gloom.

In looking at how the votes go it is no surprise at who voted Kentucky would not make it. It was mostly people who do not like Kentucky like Gametime, NCCalcum98, pldgreatno2, RockPride, TheDeuce just to name the main people who do not like UK.

Your prediction looks bad and your boy tried to explain it to you yesterday...

I am simply saying that anything you say is predictable because of your dislike for UK.

 

As for Meeks and Patterson sticking around, I believe both will. Meeks is a great athlete, but I don't see him as a big time NBA prospect. I think if he stays in college and steadily improves he will be a nice NBA player some day.

 

As for Patterson, he is a 6-8 power forward. He is athletic and strong, but I don't see him being a big time prospect for a while either. I have saw him play several times. He has a long ways to go before being NBA ready. Both will be very good college players, and IMO both will stick around, giving us some great seasons to come!

It was implied. You posted about how UK's standards are very high, and when those standards aren't met, the season is a disappointment. All this in a thread about UK making it to the FF.....Seems like a logical conclusion to me.
