Wait a minute billy, Imo Billy G. is not a better basketball coach than our last coach, no way. Don't get me wrong, I am very glad that Gillispie is at U.K. and he was my choice after Tubby was gone when everyone was wanting Donovan and he (Donovan)seemed to be stringing UK along. Gillispie has done a very good job in the recruiting department so far but as far as being a "in game bench coach" that remains to be seen. I do believe that Gillispie is a fine coach in areas other than recruiting as well, one of the best. OTS was one of the very best. I am not going to get into that again on here bc imo the way things were going and looking back on it now that it was time for Tubby and U.K. to part ways. All I will say that comparing Smith and Gillispie, well, there is no comparison.

So that is over now as far as I am concerned and no one goes foward by looking in the rear view mirror.

Billy Clyde is one heck of a recruiter and imo he will be a great coach at U.K.. He certainly has done the job wherever he has been. He is at a place now that it is expected and demanded, not just satisfactory to make the tourney, quite a change. He has my full support as a U.K. fan. :ylsuper:

And I'm sure the UL and IU crowd feel the same about Smardo Samuels and Devin Ebanks. All three schools are recruiting very well right now, and it should produce some very exciting hoops for years to come...

UK is due for a Final Four birth, not to mention all the talent Billy G will likely bring in over the next few years.

And your reasoning for that opinion is? Lack of recruiting, lack of game coaching, bad luck or what. Gillispie has turned around the recruiting, he beat Pitino (who you picked to return to the Final Four) with a lesser team in Kentucky so I don't think game coaching should be in question. I'm just curious for the reason for your assessment.

Here's what bothers me about your assessment. Why is there not going to be any signifigant dropoff at UL when going from Petrino to Krapthorpe (longterm) when UL has won one BCS Bowl and are only 3 seasons removed from being spanked by Miami of Ohio in a Bowl so there is no precedent for UL being a sustained national power. Meanwhile Billy G has had at least as much success as UL's Coach K (comparatively, I mean the biggest program Coach K has led is Tulsa) and UK's basketball program has been way more successful than UL's football program. I just fail to see how Kragthorpe should get the benefit of the doubt but Gillispie doesn't. Please explain.

I think they will make it in 3 years. I don't think that much of a stretch either. Billy will have more than enough time to get the right pieces to the puzzle in there by then.

:thumb: I said 3 to 4 years. I just hope that the bashing won't start if he doesn't (fat chance of that :lol: ) bc I am sure that he will and when he gets his 1st trip to the FF I will then look for there to be more on a fairly regular basis.

Has everyone forgotten that he has only been a head coach for 5 years? It's not like you can take traditionally atrocious basketball programs to the final four when they had never previuosly sniffed the tournament. UTEP and Texas A&M were merely stopping points on a much grander scheme for BCG. Pitino didn't go to his first final four until his 7th season, and his second one came at one of the most tradition rich schools of all time. Tubbs was a head coach for, wait for it, 7 years before sniffing the final four and winning his NC. I guess what I'm saying is give the guy some time. like two more years until his 7th season :sssh:
