I think Ryan Phillippi is the best player on Henry Clay's team. Better than Gay or Boyd. He just doesn't get the ink the other two do. Have to also agree about Israel.

Personally, I think it is a very weak year in the state if KY for football.

 

Best and brightest recruits are linenman, which means that there shouldn't really be a glamorous Mr. Football, but being in a good location for the media and having a solid year will get a skill position player the award. Or a EKY/WKY kid like Grimm who puts up unrealistic numbers could win the award.

One of the best backs (if not the best) in the mountains is Joe Roskoph at LC.

He was the second leading rusher in the state last year and was not 100% all season due to a spring acl injury. I don't know if he's top 10, but he should definitely be considered.

add TJ Pryor QB at Ballard...he has the stats...and plays a difficult schedule...and a nice supporting cast of returnees...and his coach will definitely throw the ball.

I think with 6 classes and so many state champions and teams that go deep into the playoffs, it will make it tougher to choose Mr. Football this season.

My preseason vote goes to Aaron Boyd of 6A Henry Clay.He plays in a big media market and returns the QB that will get him the ball. He already has more than a dozen division 1 offers.
