Gillispie to run Louisville out of the state?

Featured Replies

Obtained BCS conference membership.

Actually got his man in Pitino.

Managed what could have been a much uglier retirement of Denny Crum who was falling out of his prime.

Hire the one of the best offensive minds in college football ever who got his team to win a BCS bowl.

Constructed numerous athletic facilities around campus. The campus is different than when I walked in in 1999.

Re-energized the Cardinal spirit in the city of Louisville.

Continually expanded the UofL fan base out side of Jefferson Co.

Promoted spring game interest that saw 25,000+ attend the Spring football game.

Always is a phone call away from the next coach at UofL.

OK.

Barnahrt hires a coach who wins first bowl game in who knows how long coming off the heels of probation, for a program with little or no success.

Makes a dynamite hire in basketball.

Has vision to build a state of the art basketball practice facility.

Baseball hosts a regional...wins SEC title in arguable the best overall baseball conference. Other sports won SEC titles in arguable the most competitive conference in America.

Hired womens coach that got them back into NCAA tourney.

Has upgraded most facilities for all sports. New baseball stadium on horizon.

Swings deal with Fox Sports along with the Big Blue Network, bringing in 80 million dollars over the course of the deal.

Oversees deal to secure largest radio station in the state.

Athletic department is running in the black and is funding various other departments at the university including general scholarships.

Has started the Catspy's, which is a cheesy take on the ESPY's, but recognizes all the student-athletes at UK, and gets them recognition that is few and far between at major universities.

22 fully funded sports at UK.

Bottom line he is an "athletics director" not a "FBD" (Football/basketball director).

Look at the entire scope of the matter for all athletics at their schools and it is not as clear as some think, because they are athletics directors, not specialists in certain sports.

It doesn't, whatsoever...They just like to think it does since it's UK...;)

They as in Doyel?

Give me Barnhart and you can keep Tommy Turtleneck.

Thats a deal.

UL may have expanded it's alumni base, but, that doesn't mean those Alum don't still root for UK...My daughter went to UL, but, she still bleeds blue and roots for the Cats against anyone they play..

I for one attend UL and bleed blue!

OK.

That one STILL cracks me up. How much was UK on the hook for? I forget...

Jurich has upgraded the facilities at UofL. For EVERY sport.

Jurich too hired a women's coach that had them in the NCAA tournament (and the BEast POY,) and has Louisville winning NATIONAL TITLES in olympic sports. Volleyball is a strong program. Golf just dominated both Men's and Women's conference titles.

Louisville's athletic department isn't just in the black- it's more in the black than UK.

Face it- they're at worst equal in the non-revenue sports, and Jurich's record in the big ones is, at the moment, better.

My dad can beat up your dad.

Jurich's hires across the spectrum has been huge.....Collins in basketball....men's baseball...their track and field team is great...men's and women's golf won conference championships.

I thought Louisville was in Indiana:confused:

Amen, brother, amen. :thumb:

Why can't we just both say "hey both UL and UK are doing great on all fronts and better than most schools", and be happy for each other, it doesnt always have to be a peeing contest guys

This thread was started as a peeing contest thread.
This thread was started as a peeing contest thread.

I was under the impression this thread started as a posting of a link to some moronic article

Here is my favorite sentence in that article:

Heath will be an absolute disaster at South Florida, and considering the cesspool he left behind at Arkansas, I'm already celebrating his imminent dismissal.

Anytime you can work the word cesspool into a discussion about coaching changes, you've wrote a heck of an article, LOL.

The real problem is that he is probably right. :irked:

Yay, the AD argument... Haven't seen it in a couple of days.
