Are you OK Scribe? 2005 netted Baseball Guy, right? Point proven...
May 25, 200719 yr Author I was looking at the evens and odds.... 05 was bad. If Baseball Guy should be gone, that's where it started. Other than that, your list looks very good for the Reds. With the spot opened on the 40 man roster, it's clear to me we will see Homer soon. For better or worse, here we go...

So you are saying there is NO CHANCE the Reds bring up Tom Shearn instead of Homer??
May 25, 200719 yr You know what gets me in all of this. No one is getting upset. You figure if someon really cared there would be a blowup. A coach...a player...someone. Basically, what is happening has become acceptable. Krivsky got mad and responded strongly that the ownership and team was not apathetic and that it was their lives. But the behavior from management and the players is apathetic. I agree. If your Stanton and you can't get anyone out anyway just hit 3 or 4 straight batters until there's a bench clearing brawl. Just once I'd like to see some emotion or care.

May 25, 200719 yr Why send Jeff Conine up if you are going to bunt (which is clearly the right play there)? Heck, I'd have rather seen Arroyo or Harang. That was awful. Ross' base-running gaffe was horrible, made only worse when Chris Welsh tried to defend it and legitimize it. Just a bone-head play. I've now reached the point with many, many Reds' fans that I did years ago with a large portion of UK fans. It's sad really.
May 25, 200719 yr He'll get shelled... There is also some posturing on how a bring up now affects Homers position when it comes to becoming arbitration eliglble. If he comes up now does that put him in the super 2 year class where he will be eligible a year earlier than if the Reds wait until later in the season where it would be a 3 year thing? Anyone put any clarity on this?

May 25, 200719 yr With the spot opened on the 40 man roster, it's clear to me we will see Homer soon. For better or worse, here we go... The players are the only ones that can jolt this team. Bringing up Homer and having him shine (hopefully the defense doesn't make him look bad) may help this team have a mediocre year at best. Narron is not going to motivate these guys and firing him isn't going to motivate them either. What you see is what you get - especially when the one you want (Joe Girardi) is probably holding out for the Yankees. Homer comes up...brings some electricity and maybe this teams begins to breathe again. Hope so. I say bring him up and try to show the fans you want to win with the players you have, instead of the knee-jerk reaction of firing Narron and conceding the season before June. I don't like Narron, not defending him, but his firing doesn't prove anything except that the Reds continue the cycle of hiring/firing guys at the helm and still haven't enjoyed a winning season since McKeon in 2000. Firing Narron would just show kinks in Castellini's armor like previous CEO's.

May 25, 200719 yr I'd leave him in AAA then. I agree, one more month is not going to make a difference with this team. No emotion + no heart - talent = miserable season
