This thread is so funny. Barnhardt has resurrected every program in the athletic department, renovated Rupp, and installed a 30 mil practice facility for the basketball team. And Oh yeah, he wanted Tubby to be back next year, but he left on his own. That Micth Barnhardt sure sounds like a horrible AD.

My thoughts exactly.

This is the only thing I'll have to say on this subject:

In the past few months, Kentucky's AD has extended the contract of the coach that's never beaten Louisville, and has been part of running off the coach that lately Louisville couldn't beat.

A toast! To Mitch!

Great insight.:thumb:

A clear sign of how important beating UL is to us.

And the different expectations of programs.

Not hard to figure that one out.

Who would have thought that Kentucky would keep Coach Brooks longer than Coach Smith? Coach Smith has averaged 26 WINS a year. The one that needs to go his Barnhart.

Tough to get rid of a man that took a team to their first bowl victory since 1984, especially playing in the SEC with only one player on his team that gunned under a 4.5 last season. Not so tough when a program in on a decline. Lets face it, double digit numbers in the L column are not acceptable at U.K.

Do you really believe that he first spoke to them yesterday and agreed to take the job within hours?

Yes.

Yeah and how many people would have wanted to stay at a place where there was alot of people who didn't want him. As he said in the press conference today everybody always wants to be wanted. And I dont care who you are, if you are at a place where no matter what you do, there are going to be people who dont want you. Then after 10 years of dealing with that, it would get old and make a person want to go somewhere else. Tubby as I said in another thread did better dealing with everything than most coaches could have following Pitino, and how everyone viewed him as a God while here. Most coaches would not have been able to last 10 years here following that...

We're talking about the AD, not the fans. Mitch wanted to bring Tubby back. Can't pin this one on him.

People were ready to get rid of Brooks just about all season long.

I know, and Brooks basically shoved it up those people's you know where with his teams production. The Music City Bowl was an excellent coaching job. They knew they were playing a superior athletic team, and they took the chances necessary to beat them. Without the production, Brooks would have been gone.

What's that old saying they like to use on BGP...something along the lines of "why let facts get in the way?" :thumb:

I think Mitch has done a great job. And it sounds like to me Mitch gave Tubby a similar choice that he gave Brooks a few years ago...make some staff changes or hit the road. Two different choices, two different results...any criticism of Barnhardt is unwarranted and strictly personal, IMO.

Yeah.. he should have offered Tubby more than Minnesota. Oh wait, he did, and Tubby CHOSE to leave.

Can we get this through our heads? TUBBY CHOSE TO LEAVE. He was not forced out, he was not fired.

Keep telling yourself that.

The bottom line for the unhappy Mitch fans is similar to the TBers. Success doesn't matter if your don't meet the one thing they need. For Tubby it was a Final 4 appearance. For Mitch, it is a Final 4 appearance for the men's basketball team.

Doesn't matter what his going on with the other sports, if the men's basketball team is not succeeding to the level they WANT, they will be on his case.

I've been waiting for this thread!! Mitchy is a sissy!
