Time to class basketball?

Featured Replies

Would be different.

Water it down and see what happens. Districts and regions have been tweaked enough, Kentucky has something special. The kids want to play against the best and all competition, no matter the outcome. However, if coaches or administrators don't see that, then they must just want to win a watered down championship to just say they did.

Our current state basketball championshps will never be changed.

So Unversity of Kentucky has seven watered down championships since they didn't compete against everyone?

Recently, when NCC won it's state championship, sure didn't see the athletes, students, parents, fans, community, moping about how their championship was watered down. I saw a bunch of happy faces.

I love this stuff. Proponents of staying the same for staying the same's sake love to use terms like "watered down" and always seem to know the wants and desires of all the high school kids in the state. I'm amazed by that. I know the wants and desires of the kids in my small class A school and Rupp arena is a distant and unattainable dream. The large school kids may well have the dream of playing for the "one true championship" ONLY because THAT"S ALL THERE IS RIGHT NOW!!

Would it be the fair thing to do? Absolutely.

Will it happen? Not in the near or distant future IMO.

Best and most accurate post in the thread.

You see that public high school in your community? THAT is the KHSAA. The private schools in the state. THAT is the KHSAA. Do you consider the HS you graduated from or are attending a rogue organization? Because it makes up the KHSAA.

ANY HIGH SCHOOL IN THE STATE could make a proposal to change the basketball system in this state. I have not heard of that proposal being made.

And for the record, the collegiate football championship does a better job finding the TRUE best team of the SEASON than March Madness does. UNLESS you feel George Mason was one of the 4 best teams last collegiate basketball season.

High schools make up the membership of KHSAA.

And, for the record, a system that takes you out of the running for a national championship due to one loss that may occur in September, needs to be replaced.

Maybe we could just start voting for the State Basketball Champion and skip the tournaments. I vote for Dawson Springs.

Well, I sure did think the membership made a decision by voting for Prop 20.

The Board of Control voted against that action.

The KY Board of Education refused, basically, to consider it.

A compromised was sought and the Prop 2 was a result.

Sure seemed like the membership did something that was against whom you think the KHSAA is.

BTW, for the record, the Board of Control is made up of administrators, AD's FROM THE SCHOOLS for the most part. So the BOC is made up of people from community schools around the state.

Old heads!!! The powers that be! If you took every single basketball coach in the state of KY boys/girls and put them in an audotorium and took a vote and the vote was absolute. You would find that the system would change, period!

Are you sure about this?

I don't know about that, I'd say the majority would vote to keep it as is.

? Only one way to tell I guess??

I bet if you took that vote in the 2nd Region, only Henderson County, Christian County, Madisonville and Hopkinsville would vote for the status quo.

I would expect the other 11 schools to vote for change (R.I.P. Providence).

You are probably right. If they were to class private and public seperate as well I would say 100% of the 10 public school coaches would be for it.:thumb:

While we are voting let's have all the best players from every team in the state play for one Mr. Basketball. If we are going to vote for a state champion let's do the opposite for Mr. Basketball. A one game loser goes home tourney. They can play at Rupp and we can play many more games in one day. Then we could crown one TRUE best player in the state. What do you think?;)
