It's entirely possible the names of those involved may not have been released through CovCath. Those in the first or second round of interviews may have shared that fact with people they know who then post that information. It's a small community of coaches in NKy and they do talk amongst themselves. And apparently CovCath is a hot topic with the Ft. Thomas crowd, who have many posters concerned with the outcome of the search and like to talk about it.

Whatever man!!!! What else are the true Highlands Football followers going to talk about during the offseason. Last year it was Uncle Bob this year it's you guys. I can gaurentee that the people in Ft Thomas were more concerned with John Rodenburg than with any new guy in Park Hills. Do you actually think anything will change in Ft Thomas because you guys landed a quality/great/outstanding/fabulous/great guy of a coach. I hope everything works outs for you guys considering not hiring a Cov-Cath grad once again. Now if Bob Sphire was the coach, i for one would be worried but i'm not!!!!

What will be interesting to track is whether some kids of "traditionally Beechwood" families start attending CovCath because of the Brossart connection. From what I know (and that may be not much) there is a little battle that occurs to see if families in Ft. Mitchell and the nearby vicinity send their sons to Beechwood or CovCath. I was told by a good friend of mine and a Beechwood grad who ended up sending his very talented sons to CovCath, that it caused a little bit of heartburn at Beechwood and that the two schools compete for student athletes similar to the way Highlands and NCC compete for student athletes from Ft. Thomas. I wonder how active Brossart will be in trying to attract kids who otherwise would have went to Beechwood. May become a real loyalty issue for him. Would be like a Highlands grad going to NCC and trying to attract the Ft. Thomas kids to go to NCC instead of Highlands. I can tell you it would not be received well by the Highlands folks at all (which may just be too bad. Then again, if Brossart ever hopes to coach at Beechwood some day, he'll need to be careful not to burn any bridges). VERY Interesting.

He was an offensive lineman.

 

Dave was a fantastic athlete in high school and I should know as I graduated the same year from a rival school and played against him. He was a very good lineman. He will do a great job there.

CovCath names football coach

 

Dave Brossart, head football coach at Finneytown the past few years, has been named head coach at Covington Catholic, Ky., according to Finneytown athletic director Chuck Grosser.

 

Brossart replaces John Rodenberg, who resigned after winning the Kentucky Class 3A title last season to become coach at Roger Bacon.

 

Brossart, 36, was 14-17 in three years at Finneytown, including the school's first playoff berth during Brossart's first season. Last year's team was 7-3.

 

 

Brossart played at Beechwood and also Georgetown (Ky.) College. After college, he was also a teacher at CovCath for two years.

Congrats to Dave Brossart.
