Wow! In regards to the Wolfe ordeal, he must have ticked someone high up off not to get hired for the second try. Head coaching experience or not, he is a proven coach no matter if he doesn't wear the King's hat. If money were an object, I am sure he realized it before applying and would not have even thought about the job.

 

Oldguy, what does it mean to be a good Catholic? Before I go any further, let me say I am Catholic, whether I am a good Catholic, I don't know but I would say I am. Just because a person is not of the Catholic faith in a Catholic school setting does not mean they can not teach our young people good morals and good standards to live by. I fully understand your comments but they come across that being Catholic makes us a better person. I have a public school education and do not feel any less of a person because I chose that route over CCH. I am positive I had teachers who were very good Catholics.

 

Sorry, got off the thread sort of but anyway, CCH is getting a great person, a great coach who will teach your son's to become great individuals and become successful in life even though he is a Beechwood grad. All Beechwood people aren't that bad, maybe a few but not all.

 

Your great running back's father and whole family are Beechwood people and he has turned out pretty good.

Not a cheap shot, I've been very upfront and vocal about my dislike of the man.

 

I met him one time, was completely polite, cordial and simply trying to do my job. I was then berated and humiliated by him for something someone else said on an entirely different broadcast.

 

He's a jerk. Not a cheap shot, if he was standing next to me right now I'd tell him the same thing.

That's a bold assumption. Could it not be there was another viable option each time? I don't think it reflects poorly on Wolfe not to have been selected. The man is an excellent football coach.

Speculation is Trosper, as a Boone County High grad, had the inside track on the job within the Boone County school system. However, a definitive answer could only be given by those on the Conner committee.

Why all this distrust of the administration in picking Brossart as the coach? Yes they don't have a lot of experience at it (Lynn was there for 30 years (and to those who seem to think a CCH man was best for the job, lets not forget that Lynn is a Boone Co. grad, was an asst. at Lloyd, then an asst. at CCH before getting the top job)).

 

The last time around, they made the right choice. Rodenberg took them to a state title, which is what they wanted. In a perfect world he would have been there longer than 2 years, but the world isn't perfect.

 

They now have a good coach, with NKY roots (albeit at a rival school) who was associated with CCH prior to getting the head coaching job. Sound familiar(hint see paragraph 1)

Well, first of all, you made two statements in that post, and both were immeasuarably not true.

 

Secondly, I was given maybe 10 seconds to speak, I used that time, to be professional and introduce myself and begin to ask a question. I was interrupted, asked who I was with and if I was the person who made the comments. I said no, apologized for them being said, and informed him that that person was not doing that game. I was then degraded, humiliated, and talked down to for the next two minutes.

 

It was a great time. And left a great impression.

 

PS - An apology had already been given about the comment a few weeks earlier and the original comment was not even said about Ray, so obviously there was some sort of a guilty conscience there. I remember the exact quote that was said and it was not even mentioned that anyone from CCH had done aything.

Big Colonel, Coach Rodenberg's resume was heads and above better than anyone that applied for that job two years ago. I also believe alot of other coaches could have lead that team to the title. They had some very good players on that team. I just feel loyalty sould have come into their choice. I mean no offense to any old time colonels, but Cov. Cath. footbal is not the same as it was back then.

In this particular case, yes. I don't see how not being chosen for the job necessarily leads to Wolfe "must have ticked someone high up off not to get hired for the second try". I have only pointed out that it is entirely possible Wolfe may not have upset anybody and yet still might not have been offered the position.

I don't understand your question? Brossart was the viable option selected instead of Wolfe.

I do not post on here often, but I follow the discussions everyday. As a Cov Cath football alum, it sometimes troubles me that there is so much second guessing. I do not know Dave Brossart, but I look forward to meeting him. I do know Woolf and Wirth, and if Coach Brossart was selected over those two quality gentlemen, then he must bring a ton to the table. Get behind him Colonel fans, and most importantly, get behind the kids to make sure their 4 years of CCH football were as awesome and fulfilling as many of ours were.

First let me say that I am not the one to judge who is and who isn't a good Catholic, that my friend is between you and God, and only God and you really know, as it is none of my business.

 

Now being a practicing Catholic, to me at least is a Catholic, who goes to Mass, receives Communion, etc. and tries to live a life that Christ taught us to live. Do only Catholic live such a life or try to live such a life? Of course not, but CovCath is a Catholic School, and I am sure at a Baptist School, or any other religious school, the first choice by many would be for a person who belonged to the faith of the school.....To me it just makes sense.....
