GRC was the only team to match St X in physicality and athleticism.  Congrats on 2 Championships in the last 5 years.

George Rogers Clark is the first team in 98 years to win both the boys and girls basketball state championships. Ashland was the last team to pull it off.

Rag doll rim hanging over four games must have been exhausting for them.

Marshall County and North Oldham are terrible?  Yes St. Xavier had a tough first game, but overall I think GRC had a tougher path.

I assume you meant North Laurel and not North Oldham since they play GRC.

That seems really low. Does anyone have any opinions on this year's tournament? No upsets, a chalk final, a couple of snoozefest games.

? Per Jason Frakes of the Courier-Journal ~

St. Xavier's final four possessions in regulation: Missed dunk - Jordan Jackson. Missed layup - Chief Cameron. Turnover - Connor Klein. Turnover - Jeremiah Jackson.

The Tigers in overtime: shot 2-7 from the field and 1-4 from the charity stripe.

Dead legs????

They might have sold that many tickets, but there were not that many there.

Shouldn’t have been

Much more rest.

Much easier path.

They ran into a team that could almost match them athletically. Sometimes the ball bounces your way and sometimes it doesn’t.

Different era, Exhibit 1: 1981 - Simon Kenton vs. Mason County.

Those days are long gone.  I think Memorial would have been a solid place for them to reduce to, but they've reduced the capacity of that too far to make it viable.  So they're stuck playing in places that are cavernous.

Maybe if they could reduce the costs, it might help some.  I thought it was wild that it cost basically as much to park as it did to get a ticket to a single game session.

I was tending bar in Cincy. Had a transistor radio in the kitchen tuned in to Dale and Hardy on WHKK. Found myself checking the keg levels . . . frequently.

Congratulations to George Rogers Clark on winning tonight. It's a shame that they won't get the big trophy though. That was won on the first round game against Covington Catholic, right @Big East Zebra

I will say, that St. X was the BEST TEAM, but the BETTER TEAM, won last night. Congrats to GRC boys and girls now that is an amazing feat!

Almost $40 to park for 2 sessions. $42-$45 for tickets.

I remember my first Sweet 16 Championship game there was over 23,000 there, you would have thought UK was playing, but with the age of the internet and streaming games for $10, $10-12 to park, $15 dollars per ticket, spending $30-60 on concessions more folks are staying home where it cost nothing to park, you've already spent the money for concessions and you're just out the $10 for streaming.

No there was not 11,000 people there, the lower bowl was 3/4 full and a few in the upper deck.

Congratulations to GRC boys and girls that is an awesome feat!

I had GRC as the #4 team in the 10th region preseason.

Clearly, I am not smart.

They'll be #1 next year in the 10th also.
