George Rogers Clark is the first team in 98 years to win both the boys and girls basketball state championships. Ashland was the last team to pull it off.

Rag doll rim hanging over four games must have been exhausting for them.

Congrats to GRC.

A little shocked with all the perceived advantage with the athletes, rest with blowout semifinal game, and earlier game times throughout that X didn't try to push the pace more??

? Congratulations Cardinals Nation!

If you want to look at it with a different but interesting perspective go to your favorite AI program and ask about performance degradation after an adrenaline spike.  I used ChatGPT and it was really informative.  The bottom line is that when you have an adrenaline spike a short time later your performance will take a dive.  It's even worse when you are tired.   Given the magnitude and excitement of playing for the state championship and with the bright lights and hype of Rupp Arena their adrenaline during the pregame and first half was probably off the charts.  A 15 minute halftime and it went in the opposite direction.  GRC scored 7 in the 3rd quarter and St. X 6.  GRC was 1/10 from the field that quarter.  I'm sure there were other factors at work but I thought it was an interesting way to look at what I just witnessed.

RPI ratings got this one right!

Congrats to GRC for over coming that terrible bottom half of the draw to win State.

Marshall County and North Oldham are terrible?  Yes St. Xavier had a tough first game, but overall I think GRC had a tougher path.

Congrats to GRC!

Felt like the GRC-North Oldham winner would have a lot to overcome with the short turnaround, but not the case. GRC never backed down, never looked out of it, even being down late. Really impressive!

As for St. X, brutal. That is two years in a row, I don't think there's any doubt they had the best talent. But it's hard to win a state title. Takes more than talent.

Great tourney overall.

Great

Not sure X has that much more talent. Lindsay and Jeremiah Jackson are great. Jordan Jackson is a project at this point. Chief is nice. GRC’s Montez Gay has 4 D1 offers as a Jr. Malachi Ashford has D1 offers. Soph Ryder Akins has 5 or 6 D1 offers with one from Providence, EKU and Tenn St.

One more look at that dunk.

Dunk was #6 on ESPN SC top plays.  Way underrated!

Maybe irrelevant, maybe not…..why did Coach Klein keep all his horses in so late in the complete early game blowout over Grayson Co.?  Up nearly 30 with 4:00 to go and all your horses still pulling the plow?

? Per Jason Frakes of the Courier-Journal ~

St. Xavier's final four possessions in regulation: Missed dunk - Jordan Jackson. Missed layup - Chief Cameron. Turnover - Connor Klein. Turnover - Jeremiah Jackson.

The Tigers in overtime: shot 2-7 from the field and 1-4 from the charity stripe.

At least in the loss St. X's Josh Lindsay made ESPN's top 10 with his dunk.

As a JC fan, Bartelson is him. He needs more love.
