Whomever they hire, I hope they come in with a sense of pride and respect of the tradition of the program that the players feed off of. That should be expected of all coaches at the program they lead but not sure if it's always the case.

Yeah. Coach Brown is extremely happy at Cov Cath. Don’t see him leaving there anytime soon. 
 

I can see New Cath giving Eviston a call though. Word on the street is a lot of people are fed up with him. Some players are threatening to not returns if he’s back as HC.

Returning to New Cath wouldn’t be a bad move. Gets to coach ball and not have the pressure he has had at Cov Cath.

Did he really have a great run? I remember when he got the job ... there were quite a few people who felt like he was an improvement over Dan Wagner. Do the numbers and playoff depth actually speak to that? I am going out on a limb and say they don't.

Wagner was getting them to the big game in AA (which was really strong at the time without Beechwood). Lickert gets the bump down without Beechwood in A ... did they get to the championship on his watch?

Are the alumni happy or disappointed to be looking for a new head coach?

I guess I’m not as hard on high school coaches as alot of people. Got to the semi finals and a bunch of regional finals. New Cath had a heck of a run from 2000-2015. Best run they’ve ever had. With enrollment numbers being what they are I’d say he did fine. Did us s as fans want more? Absolutely, but sometimes that’s the way it is.

I think enrollment and Brossart adding football are factors that work against having success like prior to 2015. Also with more player mobility there are probably players that would gone to to NCC in the past playing at Cov Cath.

I’ve sat in the stands at Highlands watching their pregame roll call of names and schools they attended and often wondered in recent years how many players from the diocese playing backups at Highlands would have played at NewCath in a different scenario. A dynamic coach might sway that, it might not.

RPI needs to be addressed here. 5 years in a row winning the region and getting a 4 hour ride each time as a reward is something that neither Eddie nor Dan dealt with. 

I've got to think Terry Brown is the obvious first call for New Cath.

There's obviously a lot of allure for him in taking over the program at his alma mater. Plus getting to be the first coach of New Cath's 87 year old football program to ever lead the team out onto the field in their own stadium is definitely a huge draw and a major honor. Zero doubt in my mind that he's putting some serious consideration to it.

As some folks have mentioned, Coach Brown has passed on some head coaching jobs previously when schools have come calling. He's not new to head coaching, and as I understand it he likes being in a position at Cov Cath where he's not necessarily THE man in charge - particularly when it comes to dealing with the diplomacy that comes along with running the team and handling families and fanbase. He has an administration that does all it can to support their coaches and keep them as insulated as they can from parent drama...there are plenty of coaches in this day and age that can't say as much of the schools they've been at. Teaching current issues and world geography, he's also in a position where his class workload is far from being as tough as it could be elsewhere. He's also currently coaching football with some of his best friends. Seems like he's pretty comfortable where he is, but that doesn't mean he's not willing to move elsewhere if the right job presents itself....and this certainly has the appearances of potentially being the right job.

I realize it wasn't the case with Coach Lickert, but I'm assuming New Cath is hoping to ideally have their next coach working in the building during school days? If so, what classes are they likely to have teaching openings in next year...or would they look to have Terry step in as Dean of Discipline or something along that line? Or would they actually contemplate having him teaching at another school while coaching at New Cath? If that's the case, would Terry and Cov Cath be amenable to having him stepping down as defensive coordinator at Cov Cath to be head coach at New Cath while still remaining on as a Cov Cath teacher?

Lots of questions to get answered. No doubt that's all being taken into account by all parties.

Obviously I'd love to see Terry stay on at Cov Cath but I couldn't fault the guy a single bit for heading back to New Cath. Like Three Blind Mice said, that move would be a big loss for Cov Cath and a big gain for New Cath.

The RPI punishes small schools like NewCath for playing and losing to bigger schools. Yes it would benefit to win those games, but they should play an easier schedule to avoid traveling every year in the 3rd round.

Careful what you ask for.  If the mafia not to be named has been resurrected, then what coach could ever make them happy without playing their family members?  What more do they want from Eddie?

If there's actually any "word on the street" like that, I'm guessing it's either a very very short street or a private driveway, because there isn't much word like that going around at all.

I agree and I would say anyone that has "issue" with Coach E would probably be better off at another school.

I am curious what exactly about the RPI needs to be address, at least in regards to this issue? Do you believe NCC should have had a higher RPI and had a home game than the teams they had to travel to in the Regional Championship games? I am generally just asking what about the RPI was wrong at least in regards to NCC, and who they had to play?

Playing games against opponents they have a chance to beat.  Not 4A through 6A schools.
