Lost in the Class AA finals in 1970 to Highlands and 1971 to Bryan Station. Those were the Sonny Collins years.

Didn’t they have a bruiser of a fullback that went on to play at UK, also.  Can’t pull that name from the cobwebs.

    Yep, you're crazy. ?

  • Atherton played Woodford and BG last year and both games were running clocks by halftime essentially. They have definitely closed the gap but an argument to be ranked #1  with their best win being Cen

Come the playoffs, I'm taking BG until I see them lose.

South Warren, Cov Cath, and FD aren't around anymore, and they were the only teams they lost to in the playoffs for the past half-decade.

The teams ranked above them right now are still firmly on a prove-it basis to me until they actually do it.

That was my thought early in the year but at some point you have to beat somebody and that is not happening this week either.

An exciting class of football.

Feeding those Purples rat poison by gifting them a #6.

Still a believer in Pulaski County.

I like Collins to shake up the rankings next week.

I think it's worth mentioning that these "somebodies" that they have played/are losing to aren't exactly minced meat. Outside of Scott County in a regular season road game (which was very competitive), there are few, if any, examples of Bowling Green losing to in class competition like @Cmurph06y mentioned outside of the thumpers that have left the class.

The reality is there is only one more "prove it" game by competition standards after this week for BG and that is Franklin County in week 10. I don't know how much we will learn about who BG really is (healthy or not) until the playoffs.

Right, battle tested for the Purples is an understatement.

Top five.. rave ravens rave!

These 10 teams and their spot on the list could be randomly generated, and still be acceptable.

I love it! Watching Cooper, Scott County and Pulaski get walloped right when they looked like they may be the big 3 adds even more excitement for November.

Agreed. I said something similar last week and will probably say it in the future. I’m with you, this should be a great class for playoff games!

I like this Madisonville team. Big line and some serious skilled backs behind them. They aren't a big passing team, but, are more than capable of hitting the short, intermediate routes to move the chains when needed. But, make no mistake, they primarily try to pound the ball and control the clock.

Call me crazy but I would’ve voted Atherton #1 this week.

Atherton played Woodford and BG last year and both games were running clocks by halftime essentially. They have definitely closed the gap but an argument to be ranked #1  with their best win being Central Hardin is a stretch. They won’t be tested at all again until North Oldham. You can’t only play 2 competitive games in a regular season and expect success in November.

I agree with this.  I saw them play against BG in the playoffs last year and was highly impressed with the Hightower kid at RB.  He is a legit back and I do not know what offers he has, but he is up there as one of the best in the state. Coach Price and staff have done a great job coaching this group.

I agree Mr Giggles. It should be interesting how they play against Graves this week.

I think they are going to crush Graves this week.
