  1. Manual defense has dominated FD up front the previous two matchups and that certainly wasn't the case last night. Douglass coaching staff put together a great game plan offensively and their guys executed so hats off to them. FD was more physical on both sides of the ball the majority of the game.
  2. Have a very credible source that Eckloff didn’t apply for the Male job nor had any discussions with the school. He will be back at Manual trying to get them over the humpp. I think Porter may have been front runner for the Central job and he has decided on Male. We will find out soon!
  3. Reminds me of last year they were up 18 with about a minute left against Manual and they ran a half back pass with Stoner to put them up 25. Definitely felt some type of way but he is a great coach nonetheless and congrats on another title. Ultimately it’s the defense job to stop the other team so I can see both sides of it.
  4. #2 York and #8 Bridges are skill players that play both sides. Their TE #12 doubles at DE and I think he will be the most affected along with #55 who plays T and DT.
  5. I saw the scrimmage film between O and SW so I get what you’re saying. South was a lot more polished early on in the season. I haven’t seen O since the St. X game but they have clearly continued to develop over the season which is most important.
  6. The offensive staff and scheme is just a different level at South Warren tbh. They really do a tremendous job over there. Atherton has faster athletes but South Warren is a lot better up front than Atherton.
  7. False statement. There are people whose kids attending JCTMS right now and they can’t select Male as a high school option due to their address. There’s not one single kid from the Johnson team that won JCPS middle school championship last year at Male because they are at Butler. The thing Wolfe figured out is that you play Trinity from Freshman level up and compete from day 1. As great as Redman was, he didn’t want to play Trinity in the regular season and the gap started to grow at the end of his tenure. Male is still a top tier job don’t get me wrong; but it’s certainly some changes going on within the school.
  8. Male is a traditional school that used to only get kids from the three traditional middle schools in the city Barrett, Johnson, and JCTMS. Now they get all of Barrett and I believe JCTMS students that live on a certain side of the city. Johnson and the other JCTMS students will attend Butler, the other traditional high school in Louisville. The talent flowing into Male isn’t fully in your control being the HC.
  9. Douglass is better in the trenches than Atherton on both sides of the football. Atherton has speed at skill positions and make plays via screen game or deep passes on offense. Don’t think they will be able to run the ball consistently against BG. If the Purples can tackle well in space and keep guys in front of them the Ravens will struggle offensively. They play with 7 DB type kids on defense so they swarm to the football with incredible speed in the run game and naturally cover well. BG offense has to be well balanced to keep them honest.
  10. Well I have followed them along with Atherton and the Purples very closely since the playoffs last season. Seeing both teams in person against the same competition is all I need to know they are on two different levels.
  11. Manual played both teams back to back and had too much team speed for Cooper to even compete. Atherton has more speed than Manual. Both were away games but Manual played without David Pellman or Gerian Traynor against the Jags and still put up 50+ points. Cooper isn’t good enough defensively to stop the explosive plays from the Ravens offense. Cooper run game not good enough to wear down the Atherton defense either.
  12. Seeing both teams play in person Atherton would probably running clock Cooper. They have top tier athletes surrounding a young quarterback and average offensive line. I would rate their secondary second to Trinity in the state; they truly are that good on the back end. Over the years Owensboro, Bowling Green, and Woodford have taken them behind the woodshed. Atherton has closed the gap but I think they are still 2-3 scores behind those mentioned. The lack of depth up front and experience in close games will be the major challenge they need to overcome.
  13. Styles make fights like they say. Atherton Secondary is the strength of the team by far while running a 3 high safety defense. You have to be able to run the ball to be successful against them.
  14. Atherton played Woodford and BG last year and both games were running clocks by halftime essentially. They have definitely closed the gap but an argument to be ranked #1 with their best win being Central Hardin is a stretch. They won’t be tested at all again until North Oldham. You can’t only play 2 competitive games in a regular season and expect success in November.
  15. The Ravens had two 60+ pass plays for touchdowns one of which was a double pass. They struggled to run the ball and the line allowed the QB to get hit often on pass plays. Very sloppy game between both teams with many penalties on both sides. Ravens are truly loaded with talent at the skill positions like most years but time has showed it isn’t enough before. A couple of very questionable decisions to not punt the ball in your own territory is what changed the game not the officials.
