Shift BG up 2 spots and I like it. Just have an eerie feeling about the Purples. They will knock out a higher seed at some point in the playoffs, just hope it’s not my Devils.

The 5A playoffs will be fun to follow. Bowling Green is obviously still capable, as plenty are. Scott County is a dangerous #4. My pick to win state right now is Owensboro, which is a hard pick. I wouldn’t be surprised if 6-7 teams from 5A wins state, which is what makes their postseason very interesting. Good luck to everyone.

Have they faced any legit offenses outside of Manual? I know they just beat North Oldham but they haven’t played anybody worth mentioning either.

Held Boyle to 0 through three in a scrimmage and held North Oldham who was averaging 49 a game to 13.

Can they beat Owensboro? If they are doing that we may have some issues playing them if we meet.

Probably depends which Owensboro shows up. The win over MNH was very impressive. Would've thought they had faired better the first two weeks but I get that's been awhile ago.

Atherton is such an unknown.  Not that I wish ill will towards any other 5A team but I would like to see Atherton make some noise, loud noise.

Maybe they can but they haven’t seen an offense like O’s this season. North Oldhams offense isn’t even on Apollos level if you want to put it in perspective… Plus Atherton has struggled to run the clock on teams that would get clocked by O in the 1st quarter. To me they’re just another Fairdale…. They can change that soon.

I'd say Manuals offense is right up there with the Devils. They're averaging right at 40 per game and has played a stout schedule. I like OBoro to win 5a this year, but, if they do lose, it wouldn't surprise me if it were Atherton that does it. While that N Oldham win may not be considered a quality win, it is. N Oldham is a very competitive team, maybe not Top 5 quality, but certainly a Top 10 type win.

@jeff jackson I agree - they are very athletic (Atherton) and talented.  I think Atherton/BG will tell us a lot.  That said, I think Cooper beats Pulaski (even at Pulaski) and if that is the case, Atherton will go to Woodford.  Scott County may have something to say about that though!  There are scenarios where Atherton plays at Owensboro.  There are so many good games round 2 and round 3 - I think Atherton has a chance to be playing for the Championship, but they do have something to still prove to get there.  Definitely a good looking Atherton team though.

Seeing both teams play in person Atherton would probably running clock Cooper. They have top tier athletes surrounding a young quarterback and average offensive line. I would rate their secondary second to Trinity in the state; they truly are that good on the back end. Over the years Owensboro, Bowling Green, and Woodford have taken them behind the woodshed. Atherton has closed the gap but I think they are still 2-3 scores behind those mentioned. The lack of depth up front and experience in close games will be the major challenge they need to overcome.
