I think it varies by position and depends on how good the starter is. If it's D1 power 4 conference recruit then most likely a big drop off.

Gosh I hope so because if it is not a big drop off there the replacement would already be starting.

Yeah, injuries expose how deep you are. Why teams can be very different come playoff time.

Scott Co. has the second-best win of any team in 5A (BG)

If Atherton wins Friday, they will have the second-best win of any team in 5A (Manual)
If BG wins Friday, it is arguable that they would have the best win and certainly the second-best win of any team in 5A (South Warren)

As it stands, Woodford is not in that conversation.

5-10 Mixed bag... including Woodford.

I like your discussion and don't really disagree with anything, except in this context you are comparing wins and putting Woodford down the line due to less impressive wins.  Wouldn't Atherton be in that boat too?  Fair question.  They can change that Friday, but as of today they can't.  I'm splitting hairs, I guess.

I think there’s a strong chance they’d meet in the semis. Bowling Green is going to have a serious uphill battle with RPI. I think they could legitimately lose every non-district game on their regular season schedule.

Would be tough that #1 seed gets #4 seed Bowling Green that has Barber back.

Atherton can make me a believer against Manual. The don't have to beat Manual. Just be competitive.

Cooper plays Manual next week, so that in itself should give a decent comparison between Atherton and Cooper.

The hype started with the Boyle scrimmage that ended 0-0 tie plus they have 3 D1 recruits on defense. Despite schedule I think they are a legit Top 10 team.

That was in a scrimmage that in any change of possession the ball got moved back to the 20 yard line. Not saying they aren’t good but Athertons SOS has been weak. Will prove themselves against Manual.

They have a lot of good players and are beating everyone they play to death. Defensively they’re as good as anyone in 5A. Offensively, time will tell if they can complement. 

5A lacks a dominant team or teams at the top - On a given day I see pretty well any of the top 8 being able to win a game - we will know more each week though.
