Here's an actual aerial photo of the field from Motz Group. They installed the field. They alternated colors for the soccer and lacross field markings (they typically do), so it looks a lot less busy.

That looks like I would have expected.

With luck, Coach Odom and his current 7-man assistant coaching staff will have 43 players returning to their roster for the start of varsity play in 2025, plus incoming freshmen rising from their yearling middle school program to add to their numbers.

I’m really excited to see what the future holds with the Cru.  I have a gut feeling in 5 years we will have them as a really nice squad year in/year out.

#GO CRU!

Despite what yhe record shows, I thought their JV team had some talent and showed promise. I am interested in seeing them this year. There will be growing pains.

Last year St. Henry held their first-ever Crusader Youth Football Camp in late June and had a very impressive 125 kids come out for the four-day camp. Then in July they also introduced their Freshman Football Mentoring Program which aimed "to foster a supportive and enriching environment as [their] players transition to high school." Those were both really strong steps forward for their young froshmore, JV and now varsity football programs.

All four seniors graduating in May from last year's team were starters: RB Gavin Armbruster, WR/K Cody Crowder, WR/DB Parker Richmond, and OL/DL Preston Gumz. They return starting QB Ryne Ravenscraft and K/P/DB Andrew Stewart who will both be back as juniors along with incoming junior Lucas Pate who was a contributing ball carrier behind Armburster and Ravenscraft, who is a very capable rushing QB.

Other contributing players from last year's team:
- Brady Aubuchon (P) Senior
- Ian Bowman (OL) Senior
- Ben Casson (SS) Junior
- Zachery Caudill (OL/DL) Sophomore
- Zachary Cline (OL/DL) Junior
- Caden Kunstek (WR/TE/DE) Senior
- Charlie Erwin (OL/DL) Senior
- Jude Lambert-Morith (OL/DL) Sophomore
- Gabriel Larkins (OL) Senior
- Brennan Lemmond (WR/OLB) Senior
- Will Miller (DB) Senior
- Andrew Stewart (DB/K/P) Junior
- Imer Viveros (WR/DB) Sophomore
- Blaise Whyte (WR) Sophomore

Hopefully all of them will be returning for the Cru.

The Crusaders also have a strong 8th grade group moving up next year.  Their middle school team finished 8-2 in NKY Middle School Medium Division and made it all the way to the championship game where they fell short to a Holmes team they beat in the regular season.  Don't be surprised to see some of those incoming freshman make an impact on the team next year.

I was at my nephews JV game against St Henry. couple of my old friends with kids on the team said St Henry could be a 4A school by next realignment. I don't have any reason to not believe them. That would be quite the jump after starting a program. Any truth to that? I can see some kids staying with St Henry now that they have football instead of defecting to the surrounding schools with established programs, but enough to jump 2 class sizes?

I don't think that would be possible.  From the Data on the KHSAA for football alignment it looks like to me St. Henry is currently the smallest 2A football school with an average boys enrollment of 191 boys.  The smallest 3A school has an average of 308 boys so the school would have to average over that to even move to 3A.  Maybe a growth to 3A would be possible at some point(even though that could take some time) but 4A seems like a stretch to me.

The freshman class at St Henry is the largest they’ve ever had by a SIGNIFICANT amount. If (big if) that were to continue the next several years, then 3A seems the likely landing spot in the next realignment.  Freshman class has about 85 boys.

No way.  St. H was the first school in the new 2A realignment for 2025-26.  The enrollment will climb but not that much to jump 2 classes.  They will be in solidly in 2A for quite some time.

Last Saturday was awards night for the inaugural St Henry Football program.  Although we play to win by putting the best eleven on the field at all times, we are a Senior-focused program sending virtuous leaders into the community each year.  We make custom helmet plaques to give to the outgoing Senior class each year.  A huge thanks to my Dad, Bob Odom and my Son, Beau Odom for helping me fabricate the awards. A special thank you to Riddell’s Paul Rigby for making the plaques possible.

This year’s Class of 2025 are left to right:

Preston Gumz
Connor McKinley
Gavin Armbruster
Cody Crowder
Parker Richmond

A big Hip-Hip Hooray to this group!!!

Now that’s some good numbers for an upstart program. How has there middle school team done?

Last year was their first year for middle school football.  The Middle School Varsity group played in the NKYMS Medium School Division and made it all the way to the championship game but lost that game to Holmes.  They finished 8-2 with wins against Grant, Beechwood, Turkeyfoot, Woodland, Tichenor, Holmes, Summit View, and Newport.

The 6th/7th graders played in the NKYMS 7th Grade League and were one of the four teams to make the playoffs but lost to Twenhofel.  Highlands and Beechwood were the other two teams to make it to the 7th grade playoffs.

Last year they also had over 60 kids between the teams.

Does anyone want to take a guess at their wins and losses for the season?  I'll take a guess and say they win the bolded games.  Pretty hard to know what to expect, but I think they will be equally competitive with Bishop Brossart.  I think that would be a comparable opponent.

Aug. 22 vs. Holy Cross
Aug. 29 at Boone County
Sept. 5 vs. Bishop Brossart
Sept. 12 at Bellevue
Sept. 26 vs. Gallatin County
Oct. 2 vs. Owen County
Oct. 10 at Beechwood
Oct. 17 at Bracken County
Oct. 24 vs. Walton Verona
Oct 31 vs. Ludlow
