Last year was their first year for middle school football. The Middle School Varsity group played in the NKYMS Medium School Division and made it all the way to the championship game but lost that game to Holmes. They finished 8-2 with wins against Grant, Beechwood, Turkeyfoot, Woodland, Tichenor, Holmes, Summit View, and Newport. The 6th/7th graders played in the NKYMS 7th Grade League and were one of the four teams to make the playoffs but lost to Twenhofel. Highlands and Beechwood were the other two teams to make it to the 7th grade playoffs. Last year they also had over 60 kids between the teams.

I don't think that would be possible. From the Data on the KHSAA for football alignment it looks like to me St. Henry is currently the smallest 2A football school with an average boys enrollment of 191 boys. The smallest 3A school has an average of 308 boys so the school would have to average over that to even move to 3A. Maybe a growth to 3A would be possible at some point(even though that could take some time) but 4A seems like a stretch to me.

The Crusaders also have a strong 8th grade group moving up next year. Their middle school team finished 8-2 in NKY Middle School Medium Division and made it all the way to the championship game where they fell short to a Holmes team they beat in the regular season. Don't be surprised to see some of those incoming freshman make an impact on the team next year.

They started with Flag in 2023 Spring/Fall Seasons, Middle School and JV in 2024, and Varsity in 2025.

There was a grant received from the RC Durr Foundation to fund the project to improve ADA access for restrooms at the stadium.

There is a project currently under construction to add mens/womens restrooms behind the pressbox to address this issue.

9th Region

Exciting game that seemed to be fairly evenly matched. St. Henry scored first when Cerenza Kent scores off a free kick from Cori Riegler. Dixie answers with a solid corner kick and headed in by Carson Smith. In the second half Dixie is called for a handball in the box and Erin Cheek drives home the PK. Some solid saves by both keepers to keep the score at 2-1 for the remainder of the game. Both teams could make some noise in the regional tournament next week!

Congrats Dixie on a huge win! 3 goals is a lot to score against ND.

Hard fought defensive game! Looking at all the 9th region scores it could be a very interesting post season.

Hard fought battle in some extremely hot conditions yesterday. St. Henry scores with 30 seconds left on a corner kick to win the game. Ryle scored first on a breakaway. St. Henry then answered with a direct kick from Katie Evans to Morgan Ferris Ryle answers on nice a corner kick/header Halftime score 2-1 Mackenzie Kent then scores to tie the score at 2 and with 30 seconds left KERENZA Kent kicks the corner kick and Jenna Berling heads it in for the win.

Very tight game as usual with these two teams. Dixie scored on a direct kick with 3 seconds left to tie the game 1-1 after a penalty right outside the box. If I remember correctly this district game has went to PK's the last 3 years during the regular season. Always a tough district rivalry.

First half seemed like a fairly evenly matched game with a 1-0 score and that goal coming on a PK from a penalty in the box....Second half was dominated by Highlands.

The game is at Highlands The Cru has 11 seniors this year with 8-9 players that saw substantial time last year. There are a number of new faces that could make an impact this year as well including some girls off the JV team as well as two transfers from Notre Dame. I believe that Defender Erin Cheek, Keeper Cori Riegler, and Striker Mackenzie Kent all received some sort of district/regional honors last year.

Thursday Night Rematch of last years 9th Region Semi Finals...Can the Cru pull off the Win or will Birds be too much?

What are the big matchups for teams starting their season this week. I'll start with St. Henry playing Highlands on Thursday night. Highlands won the regular season game last year 2-0 and St. Henry pulled off the upset in the 9th Region Semi-finals last year in PK's. What other big games are there this week?

St. Henry will return 8 of their 11 regular starters next year including their Keeper Cori Riegler(Junior), and their two leading scorers Stephanie Grome(Sophomore) and Mackenzie Kent(Freshman) as well as defensive standout Erin Cheek(Sophomore). The cru had only given up 11 goals for the entire year prior to Regional Championship game. Should be a solid team returning for The Cru.

Not the outcome we were hoping for but congrats to The Cru on a great season...we were on the defense most of the night with corner kick after corner kick, and set piece after set piece. Notre Dame came to play and made some great shots. Good luck to the Pandas at State and bring home a championship for NKY!
