I've never cared less about the results of my favorite team's bowl game. 

The only reason I have any interest is hoping that no returning contributors get hurt. 

Bowl games today are about the same as they have been for the past 15 or so years. Most bowl games exist purely for TV programming and advertising. As long as TV makes money, those bowl games will continue on.

The 5 or 6 big traditional bowl games are part of the playoffs now so they are going to be ok, just a little different.

I had little to no interest in the round 1 playoff games, but they set the stage for the next four games and the rest of the playoffs - and I am interested in the remaining games. So the playoff has worked in getting me interested in a few more games. In the past 10 years or so I only cared to watch the final four. If the playoffs expand to add more teams, I won't be interested in watching till they get down to the final 8 or so.

So the playoff could expand to 16 and your interest level would be the same as this year.

Yes. I was interested in the outcomes but not interested enough to make any of the first round games must see TV for me. And what happened in the first round games this year did nothing to change my feelings on that. The one game that interested me enough to make sure I checked it out was Ohio State/Tennessee and that turned into a dud. Maybe the lopsided first round games have tainted my opinion. I did look in on each of the games to see if they were worth watching but seeing the scores, I moved on quickly.

In some ways, those Georgia Tech players will never get over that loss to Georgia. Brutal to get that close and not get the win. Playing a great game doesn't help a whole lot and can even make it tougher. 

I can't read minds, but it sure looks like that game has stayed in their minds... as it would. They have played that game over and over in their minds since that night. 

Not being critical of them. Have much respect for those young men and what that program has done. They are playing hard, they just are not the same team.

 

Some teams will be happy just to get a bowl game.   Some will be disappointed with where they landed.  That’s always the case.   I watch many of them unless they get out of hand. 
 

For the “non-playoff bowl detractors”, I get some of it.  After all, tomorrow kicks off with the Bad Boy Mowers Bowl and the Pop Tarts Bowl.   I’m trying to picture the trophies. 

8 games on Saturday plus the Bengals.  Not going to get anything else done.

The last one may have been the best. 

Iowa St over Miami was another fun game to watch. Came down to the last play, albeit a Hail Mary, but a very fun high scoring game. Two really nice teams for the Pop Tarts Bowl...this bowl game is growing on me each year.

It doesn't seem as close as 27-0...easily could be 40-0.

On cue, as soon as I posted above...Shedur finally hits Hunter for a TD.
