I definitely agree with you and DF about the timeline for the portal. I think they could squeeze some middle ground and maybe make it January 1st each year and eliminate most of the issues.  That would get the first two rounds of the playoffs out of the way.

I did hear that Colorado had built in the NIL deals about playing bowl games for certain players.  Then again this was  Doug Gottlieb saying that who also lost to Michigan Tech........which by the way how in the world is he coaching a Div 1 basketball program and doing his shows every day?  I guess the 2-11 record reflects that.  Sorry I digressed off topic.

Beginning next year with revenue sharing for college players, and NIL, also figuring in that these players now have agents, I think we have arrived at a point in college football where, instead of signing and NLI they need to sign a contract, on a year-to-year basis. I agree the transfer portal does not need to open until after the NC game. In said contract it would state that said player has to play in the bowl game, or they forfeit the revenue sharing and NIL money. As a fan, I do not want to spend, X amount of money to go and support my team and key players opt out of the bowl game. Someone (I really don't care who) needs to step up and take charge of the NCAA and put some guidelines in place, or all that is happening is the College game will become a minor league system for the NFL.

What are the players learning in school to warrant paying a tuition?  They are basically just ambassadors for their schools who make millions off of their skills.  I don't like it, but that's the environment in the NCAA today.

Let’s be real, the system has always been set up like this in some capacity, hiding under the “student-athlete” moniker. Requiring only 9 credit hours with no telling how many taking online only or other joke classes, it’s been a running joke for time.

Non-playoff bowls lifeline has to be on alert.  Rapidly disappearing key players, fewer and fewer traveling fans, TV sponsorship money has to be in jeopardy of being pulled or at least more closely scrutinized.  Just hearing tic…tic…tic…tic!

Now that there is a real playoff system, the extra bowl games should just go away. Back when there were fewer bowl games, they were great recruiting tools, but as we've moved further an further away from that old system, very few fans cared about the majority of the bowls, and even when the playoffs became 4 teams the buzzards started circling and the whole bowl system went on life support. Sponsors don't care, fans don't care, why should the players, especially the players who have a chance to play at the next level.

I hope the bowl game system is gone and they just go to a 14 or 16 game playoff. I absolutely loved getting to watch a playoff game on a teams home field tonight. All playoff games should be at the higher ranked teams home field. That makes the game so much better imo. The only game that should be at a neutral site is the championship game.
