Guys I know someone that was recently approached and offered a job that needs turning around. He asked for $25,000. The immediate response was no problem we can do that. I am not saying that is common

  • IF you truly want to be a HC, being a 2nd/3rd option doesn't matter.  Get in there, do the job and win.  Doesn't matter how you got there IMO.

  • I’ll tell ya why he would leave hart co, the last 2 years he’s had teams full of covid holdovers and he won’t have that next year.

Some interviews were held yesterday.

Are interviews completed for this job? Things have been very quiet over the last few days.

I am going to give an update on what I have heard so far.

I have heard that Arnett and Griffin both intervied for the job sometime right before/after the new years.

After not hearing from the school that Arnett reached out to them sometime this current week and was told that the committee had not even met yet but that they would be in touch soon. After being told this it came to light that Chad Griffin had in fact been offered the job sometime last week but had asked them to give him until tomorrow to make a decision. This timetable was to allow him to talk to Hart (possibly about a raise) and to determine what was going to happen with with Meade Co. Evidently Griffin really wanted the Meade Co job. I have heard that Powers will end up at Meade and that Griffin will now be taking the Glasgow job.

There are a few things wrong with this picture if all of this is in fact true.

1. Glasgow admins openly lied to a candidate about the hiring process which is not a good look for anyone who is willing/wanting to work there. If they will lie to one they will lie to anyone.

2. Glasgow was Griffins safe school so to speak in that he wanted the Meade job so he will be settling for his second choice and the school will be hiring someone who didn't have them as a priority. This one happens a lot but still not a great thing. Glasgow was willing to wait over a week on him all while he was waiting on a different job again not a good look. I don't know coach Griffin so in no way am I knocking him as a coach ro a person just giving my opinion on the situation as a whole.

Overall this process does not have the look of a school who takes their program serious and

I would think the Glasgow job would be better than the Meade job.

Oof. Not a great look for Glasgow admin if this is correct.

The football side of things might be better but sometimes the bigger picture is the pay.  If Griffith is at the end of his years for retirement the school that pays the most will help to maximize the retirement pay which is a huge deal for teachers because that is the dollar amount you receive for the rest of your life.  I would think Meade would have a higher teaching pay scale and a higher coaching stipend.

If I was Arnett I would keep winning Championships at Boyle while Glasgow does good to compete in 3A. Arnett has been at Corbin and won, Took a team at barren with very little talent and the best season in 15 years with them his last year there, and has won 3 state championships with Boyle Co.  I don’t know what Glasgow was thinking but this should have been a home run hire for them.

As a guy who grew up in Boyle and been around the program for almost 40 years now I agree 100% it should be a home run hire. Arnett does a great job and I am glad he is at BC. I want him to take the career path that he wants and will be happy for him wherever he is however, selfishly I am glad it looks like he will stay at BC.

There are and still are A LOT of people that want Arnett.

School administrators lie all the time in the hiring process.  Whether, to a candidate to keep them on the line or "selling" their program as something it isn't.  Chad Griffin has lost what 2-3 games at a non football school the past two years?  I think it's a good hire for Glasgow without knowing him personally as a coach.

I don't have a single problem with Coach Griffin shopping and trying to get the best situation for he and his family.  There is too much stress and pressure on Coaches for little pay to not put yourself in the best situation you can.

Facts.  Schools will cut you in a heartbeat over anything, so might as well do your research and take your time.  He didn't have to do anything with what he's built at Hart Co, so I'm sure it was all on "his terms".  Good for him.

I think people are more concerned about how Glasgow has waited around for him when there was a great if not better candidate.
