I had the same feeling, myself, at the half. But as the saying goes, "defense wins games." Cov Cath's defense had a solid night tonight...but Franklin County's defense came up with the bigger stops when the rubber met the road.

The Flyers have a solid team headed to Lexington next Friday night, and also can be thankful for only having to ship their team and fans 30 minutes down the road to Kroger Field instead of the 4 hour trip the good folks from Paducah will be making.

Congratulations again to Coach James and the Flyers.

CC, 67 plays, 319 yards (235 rush, 84 pass), 18 first downs, 1 turnover, 5 penalties (20 yards).

FC, 35 plays, 184 yards (127 rush, 57 pass), 7 first downs, 1 turnover, 3 penalties (15 yards).

Wow. You could ask 100 people who won this game just blindly looking at these stats, and 99% of them would say the Colonels. 

But you have to win in the redzone. Great season Colonels, you proved a lot of people wrong who counted you out from the beginning of the season with those 2 straight loses and it was a foregone conclusion that Boyle was already going to win the state title. As Thanksgiving weekend comes to a close, how lucky we are and how thankful we should be that a state semifinal loss to a great team is disappointing. 

10 years of EE and we’ve seen Friday night lights during State semi weekend 6 times. Congrats to the Flyers, looking forward to this Colonel team in 2025!

You got to throw it in the end zone. I would have simply did a toss up to Oliver Link. He is tall, see if he could have come down with it. I think you seriously could have had 2 chances to try and do that. You can’t throw it to someone at the 5 yard line. 

Congrats to the Flyers great season for Cov Cath as well!!! Definitely will be a tough bunch for seasons to come. 

So proud of the toughness and guts of the Flyers last night!  Cov Cath is so tough to beat and it went down to the last play.  Congrats on a great season Cov Cath.  Now Flyers, go get that 1st State Title!  Flyer proud and once a Flyer always a Flyer!  Let's go!!  So proud of this staff, which has some great friends of mine, and this community is oh so proud and beaming after that epic win.  Go finish!! 

Sounded like an incredible game between two very talented teams, as you'd expect this time of year.  It's why the Semi-Final round is the best IMO.  The State Finals are more important but more good games this weekend.

What are we looking at?

Flyers not giving up any points to Cov Cav having it inside the 10 back to back times and moving the ball easily early was really impressive. Story of the game.

Proud of the playoff run CovCath went on. One play from back-to-back state championship appearances. Not bad for a team that six weeks ago was labeled "a middle of the road 4A squad".
