I think it was Danville who beat Mayfield.

November 28th 2003.  Boyle was playing at Paducah Tilghman that night and I remember everyone heading west that day after Thanksgiving.  We both won that night and the next week at State.  2 of the 4 titles came back to Titletown.

Danville also won November 23rd. 2001 at Mayfield 17-10 in same round of the playoffs.  That was the year Danville became Titletown.

Mayfield in 2001 let that game get away from them, as I recall.

Why do you think LCA won't be able to run the ball on Mayfield?

LCA averaged more than 250 yards rushing per game against their non district schedule.

LCA was a pretty good running team last year, I don't know how it can get much better.

Mayfield doesn’t lose these games at War Memorial. LCA may be the better team but Mayfield, AT Home, will get it done.

Mayfield is a little banged up.

Their running game is more by committee and then throw in the QB that is duel threat...than by having one dominant running back such as Hensley was last year...

And you know this how?

Everybody is a little banged up this time of the year. As far as I know Mayfield came out of last game healthy with no new injuries.

I feel like LCA has a little bit better team overall than Mayfield this season.  But they brought really good teams into War Memorial the past 2 seasons, and just wilted in the 4th quarter each time.  If the Eagles are going to get out of Mayfield with a win this season, they need to be up by more than one score going into the 4th quarter.  I don't think they're good enough to do that.  I'll take Mayfield 28-27.

Mayfield has and always has had stout run defense. We are better geared to stop the run. I don’t recall a team running the ball on Mayfield with great success in all the years I have been watching. If you remember back just a few years ago, Union City was a running team (threw the ball maybe 3 times per game) and were destroying teams for I think a four year run of state titles. They played Mayfield and got blanked on their field. It’s not gonna work.

LCA's Hensley ran for 270 yards on Mayfield last year.

This year Paducah Tighlman rushed for 223 yards.

I am not saying LCA is going to win. But I think they will be able to have some success running the ball.

I think it was a playoff game in 2004 Kelvin Turner (Marshall University) Danville may have threw the ball once or twice in a playoff game against Mayfield and maybe once or twice in the state game and won both..Like VOR is saying its been done but don't mean LCA will win but could have some success running the ball...this is going to be one of the better 3rd round games in the state for a 2nd year in a row...

LCA should have a very bad taste in their mouths after Mayfield had put them out in back to back seasons. Will this 3rd matchup be a charm for LCA?

This is a State Championship type game and Coach Doug Charles has seemed to not be able to get it done in these type games.

What happened when Hensley ran for 270 yards?  That was with a better passing attack than this years team. PT is a different animal. They are very balanced. We had to dedicate so much time to the 4 star receiver and their passing attack.   I’ve seen a lot of teams try to win by running, I’ve seen a lot fail.
