This will be a great game!  Would love to go.

I saw LCA at the Rafferty's Bowl vs Boyle County and a little at the LCA Bowl vs Pikeville and their lines really impressed me, especially defensively.  From afar, how will Mayfield's lines hold up in the trenches will likely go a long way in this game.  But driving 4 hours on a bus is no joke and it will be a packed house at War Memorial.

I'm pulling for Mayfield, but it's a close game regardless.

Mayfield will have to throw and run the ball in this game. If we can only run the ball we're in trouble. I'm hoping our speed will be a difference.

I agree on both counts. Mayfield will need to throw the ball. Mayfield has a balanced offense and speed that can get quick strike scores.

I agree, How our line goes, we go.

Mayfield’s strength is their defensive box play. LCA is a running team this year.  Something has to give.  I still think the Cardinals struggle more with a team that spreads it out.  LCA can not be one dimensional.  PT and Graves did run the ball well but it was because they were balanced and made plays through the air.

Football in November means football at War Memorial.

Mayfield 28

LCA 24

This is going to be a game..go big red...can't wait...

If you like the rushing game, this is the game for you. LCA has rushed for 3,143 yards this year. Mayfield has a dynamic young RB in Josiah England. This shapes up as a very different game than last year's game.

This will be quite the challenge for Mayfield. Their rushing defense has been outstanding. Only four teams were able to rush for more than 100 yards against Mayfield - Graves County, Paducah Tilghman, Henderson County, Murray. Mayfield went 2-2 in those games. One of the wins was in double OT and the other was a last second come from behind win. LCA looks like a team built to win against Mayfield.

On the other side, LCA lost two games. In both losses they allowed over 230 yards rushing. LCA is allowing more than 100 yards rushing per game. Mayfield RB England may be the weapon to watch in this battle.

Maybe, maybe not.

Mayfield has a tremendous running back every season. Last year it was a bruiser, this year more of slasher with a smaller version of a bruiser as his back up. Talking to the coaches, LCA better do their homework on the Mayfield passing game or they will be trying to play catch up, like last year. If LCA has plans to do that simply by running the pigskin, then it will be a (another) long trip back to the LEX.

The TP94 Power Ratings like LCA big:

Owensboro Catholic         91.17
Lexington Christian Academy         86.24
Beechwood         72.37
Mayfield              66.54

It's probably out there somewhere, but any idea what these numbers looked like last year before this game? Similar, I suspect. Isn't there margin of victory included in this.

Agree. On England, I was pointing out that Mayfield has an outstanding RB of their own.

As I said in the post above, the Mayfield passing attack is something LCA will have to contend with. LCA defense has given up points in all their competitive games except Raceland, where they held Raceland to 13 points in a 25-13 win. In their first 5 games against non-district teams, LCA was allowing about 27 points per game. Point being LCA should not get into an offensive shoutout because Mayfield has more weapons. LCA needs to use their running game to control the clock and reduce the number of possessions in the game.

Are they saying that LCA is better than last year? I know we aren’t. I say his numbers are off. I think this game is going to close. If anybody runs away with it , it will be Mayfield.

Yes and I don't see Mayfield running away with anything, lol.

I don’t either.
But I don’t see them coming in War Memorial having their way, either.

I do get them wrong sometimes.  I have picked LCA a lot and been wrong.  I do think they are better than Mayfield but the game is at Mayfield so who knows.
