Pikeville will travel to Lexington to take on Sayre in the Regional Final. Pikeville (7-5) defeated Paintsville in the 2nd round while Sayre (12-0) beat Paris. Who wins?

I want Sayre to win but I always have a hard time voting against Pikeville. I’ll take Pikeville.

I think Sayre is going to get it done. Pikeville is very good but I believe Sayre has the offense to cause Pikeville’s defense trouble and enough to walk off the field with a win, which I am not as confident in with other 1A offenses. Good luck to both teams.

I’m a city boy, but this should be a good ole good one. 

Love Sayre’s progress over last 4 years under Pennington.  He does schedule to a level where the Spartan’s can be competitive.  Whereas, Pikeville plays an awesome schedule…still has 6 opponents (not including Sayre) advancing to 3rd round and maybe one of the season’s strongest Johnson Central lost 14-13 to CovCath in 2nd round.  Finesse and speed versus smash-mouth.  Hard not to take Panthers.

Just saw Pennington’s stats against Paris….18 for 22, 245 yards, 5 TDs and 2 interceptions.  The non-interception streak was over in the first half on a tipped pass.

Look for a heavy dose of Brenden Anthony to limit possessions for Sayre. He's looking more and more like his old self as the season's progressed.

Really good game here!  Would love to go to this one.  When is the last time Pikeville had to travel in the third round?

It’s been a long time, not since 2017. 

How is Pikeville at defending the pass?

Sayre is very very good but I just can’t pick against Pikeville until someone in 1A proves they can beat them. I anticipate a great game!
