A little bit but I don’t think that is the issue at Duke.  They were having these issues before Coach K gave the keys to Scheyer.

I think the NIL and transfer portal make it more difficult for the one and done model. What this is evolving into is more talented and experienced teams for many of the power 5 level schools. They will take the good recruits that worked out and bring in transfers that have proven themselves in college already and get much better - more talented and experienced.

This is why I didn't like an unregulated transfer rule because it's basically going to kill mid-major programs.  You are going to find diamonds in the rough, turn them into something, and then they are going to get a bigger NIL offer than you can match and you will lose them.

Agree. Eventually the big schools get better and the mid majors worse.

Nope. Not for me.  This kind of success early on only ensures that mediocrity will be tolerated down the road.  My beef is always been that he isn’t the answer long term.  
 

He’s exceeding my expectations this year for sure with what he has shown us during this regular season.  

 

For me this raises the roof on the expectations for next year’s team.  A bigger, badder version of this year’s team.  
 

I’m grateful for their run so far.  I hope they win it all.  
 

If Scheyer has one title in fifteen years should I call that a success?

No I would not. He would be just like Cal in my opinion a great recruiter but not a good in game coach. Maybe you see that already I just think it is a little to soon to reach that conclusion.  I was surprised that if UConn wins this year's tournament that they will have as many titles as Duke and Carolina combined.

UConn has quietly become a blue blood before our eyes.

And if UConn wins this year’s tournament it will be with a big turnover in players.

What does the Duke fans on this site think of  Coach Scheyer comments he said about the Duke program after their loss yesterday in the elite 8 game in Dallas.

“Where is our program at? I think our program couldn’t be in a stronger place,” Scheyer told reporters, via John Watson of 247 Sports. “We’re just 20 minutes away from going to a Final Four in our second year. I don’t shy away from our expectations or what we want to do, but for me, that’s not the way I’m thinking at all. I’m just hurting for these guys right now. Tough loss.
