But they have proven they can beat these teams without two a days.

Only when they have had far superior talent, which hasn't been and won't be very often.

I strongly disagree with this. Why do you think Highlands has the "Jimmies and the Joes"? They work hard and develop players 12 months a year. That is why they have a winning season every year and are in title contention every year.

It happens, but it is very rare that you just have better athletes and win. That is the excuse the losing team makes for not working very hard! On many occasions I have seen a less talented team win because they were better prepared and more technically sound.

Believe it or not, all of the Highlands kids are not born with supreme athletic ability. I can tell you that Dixie will never develop young talent until they decide to have two-a-day practices. Summer time is an opportunity to create depth and focus on the young kids a little bit. Those kids who are not starters get tons of reps during the summer. They become better technicians of their position, become better players, develop more football savvy, and become more confident in their ability.

It will take more than just 2-a-days.

Check out Highlands's spring game!

Check out the number of athletes in weigtlifting and conditioning.

Check out the hours they put in from January to June, and then check out how many they put in in June and July before 2-a-days.

Dale Mueller gets more out of his players than any coach in the state!!!

Agreed!

Starting the season, I would rank NKY 5a like this:

1. HHS

2. Dixie

3. CCH

I'll take : 1) Birds

2) CCH

3 - 4) The rest of them !

With 23 or 24 State Titles to go against , thats all you need to say !

All that stuff you mentioned is past history, and while tradition will get you somewhere, it isn't everything. If it was, CovCath wouldn't have beaten us twice this year, as we'd beaten them a whole lot over the last 10 years or so. And while I understand the motivational, challenging intent of your post, you know as well as I do that Dixie has some very good athletes and a whole lot of starters returning (more than Highlands and many more than CovCath).

That will mean a whole lot in deciding the outcome of the district in my opinion. Which is what I base my opinion on.

p.s. where do you want your sand bags delivered?

Your right LN ! History teach's you the lesson for the future ! And I'm NOT sure this years team has learned the lesson yet ! I know most of them and I just don't see it ! There to worried about there girl friends , cars , careers in NFL , stat's , and not getting enough attention from the press ! You know , your ME ,ME ,ME , THING ! And not the Total TEAM Thing that it takes to win 1 State Title ! I see so much talent going to waste . They ALL have to put TEAM FIRST and nothing else !!!!!!!!! You can't have a bunch of FAT HEADED Sr's running around , saying ME ME ME !!! They have to play TEAM FOOTBALL FIRST ! And if a Jr or a Soph is putting out more , they PLAY over the FAT HEADS ! Its all about THE TEAM and thats it ! I want nothing more then to see them Win a State Title ! TEAM FIRST and thats it ! You have to want it all ! And want it NOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Theres no next year Sr's !:fire:

( Just leave the sandbags on the turf ! ) PS Sr's , Birds the past 2 years 100 plus points to Dixie's 14 if your lucky !

Dale Mueller gets more out of his players than any coach in the state!!!

Next to Rodenberg ! Well he's gone now , so I guess your right !

Are you sure that you really know the team players? Do you really know who is out there partying on and not worried about football next season? I think that there are a number of them (I personally know) that are working hard in the weight room and putting in extra hours outside of the weight room so that this can be "the year". I must say that I have always found you to be a supportive Dixie fan and I am surprised with your new found dislike for the leaders of the team next season. Don't judge the whole team by a few. Last year the team was shot down before the season even got started (preseason games) by the fans, press and coaching staff. I hope that your tact is only to challenage the team and not create a new band wagon for cutting up the senior leaders before they have even had a chance to lead. Let's wait and see. I hope that your thoughts are not shared by many fans and that most remain very optimisitic about this season.

Players, find your own spirit, create team and prove the critics wrong!:ylsuper:

So two a day practices are the answer huh? That is how you develop talent? I really didn't know the answer was so simple.

Partly! It is twice as many practices. The more practice, the more reps! Also if you read my post I explain my point.

Summer practice is where the young kids get the most reps. During the season the young kids are on scout team preparing the varsity kids for that week's game.

I did not say it is the only way to develop talent, but it helps! No it is not that simple and read the post as a whole! Not just the part you highlight.

Quite possibly but they would be third choice in the 5A district and not favored to advance past the district and not have a home playoff game. While in 6A they would be one of the choices to advance out of the district or at the very least would have a better chance than in 5A. I wouldn't be in favor of them moving up (as I don't think teams should be able to move up)but I could see why they would.

You don't think teams should be able to move up? Highlands would be AAA. Have you seen the teams that are going to fall in AAA? I don't think you would have the same opinion if Highlands and Cov weren't moving into your district.

If you follow the rules of Bylaw 25 section 5 at most you could have gotten this year is 4 more practices. and that is if you didn't have to cancel because of the Heat

And Dixie for the past couple years has held a seperate practice for their JV team up until game week.

So I think that would help address the benefit of Two a Days.

4 more chances to get better.

Just keep doing the same things. That way "the team from Ft. Thomas" can practice for CovCath during Dixie week.

Two a days help immensely with your early season physical conditioning. Nothing gets you in shape for playing football, better than playing twice a day in the head of August. BTW, You are still allowed to have two a days for a whole week. One of the practices have to be in helmets only every other day. I can't imagine being in shape for game one without them.

The first few games of the year Dixie looks slow and out of shape. I don't get the whole two a days mentality with Mr. Spritzky. If my team looked slow and out of shape every year you can bet the bank I would have two a days. You would think that playing for HHS he would know the value of getting in peak physical condition. I DON'T GET IT........

But if you follow the rules you can't practice in the heat of august. I read no where in the Bylaws that said you could have Two a days for a week I must have missed it.

I am not saying that two a days wouldn't help but I think the reason you said to have two a days (develop young players) is being addressed by holding seperate practice where the younger players get individual reps with the coaches.

Highlands is in a community where the whole community buys into football, look at their Baseball program since the start of Spring Football. I want Dixie Heights to be at the level of Highlands but i honestly don't believe, that a new stadium and two a day practices is the entire answer, you are right though it may be a start. I just think you saying not having two a day practices, is the reason Dixie Heights hasn't won 16 State titles. When I played there we did have two a days.

What Highlands has is something special a rich tradition to be admired by all well almost all, There is a reason for their success and it is a lot more than two a day practices, because if it was just hard work we have been told Highlands out works just about everyone they would be 47 time state champions.

Go ahead a I'll say it for you, Dixie is doing the same thing and expecting different results. Whatever I told you once I do not repesent Dixie Heights football or Tom Spritzky, these are my opinions call him for his thoughts.
