2007 Dixie Heights

Featured Replies

No two a days. The players want to do them but have been told by the coaches that it isn't going to happen. Who has the commitment and motivation? Sounds like the players want to improve.....

Sounds like a great way to start working together. The 2007 Colonels haven't played a down and you are already blaming the coaches. I don't believe they have had two a days since 2001.(They may have had them in 2002) The 2002- 2005 teams have had sucess, so I am not sure that iwas the problem.

Now leatherneck , lets take a good look at this . I've looked in the Great Halls of Highlands and seen some pretty nice stuff ! What 15 or 16 state titles or so . Look at Dixies and you see a Conference Champ's from I think 64 or 65 . ( The Dave Browning day's as a player , not as a coach yet ! ) And some District Titles that we are very proud of them all ! Then you look at this years state Champs , CovCath and see what 4 or 5 more state titles ! So 2 of the 5 teams alone in the district have 20 or more state titles ! You can't possibility pick Dixie to be the favorite this year . Yes I love the Coaches we have and they have had great success at Dixie . But its time to challenge this years TEAM to take it to the next level . And its time for the Dixie Football TEAM players to commit totally to TEAM FIRST and nothing else ! Then and only then will you see something special happen at DIXIE !!!!!!!!!!

Until then Highlands 1st , CovCath 2nd , and the rest of us 3rd or 4th ! That's the truth , nothing but the truth ! This TEAM has the talent , but will see if they find out what to do with it ! DIXIE PRIDE FOREVER !!!!!!! :fire:

All that stuff you mentioned is past history, and while tradition will get you somewhere, it isn't everything. If it was, CovCath wouldn't have beaten us twice this year, as we'd beaten them a whole lot over the last 10 years or so. And while I understand the motivational, challenging intent of your post, you know as well as I do that Dixie has some very good athletes and a whole lot of starters returning (more than Highlands and many more than CovCath).

That will mean a whole lot in deciding the outcome of the district in my opinion. Which is what I base my opinion on.

p.s. where do you want your sand bags delivered?

Then you look at this years state Champs , CovCath and see what 4 or 5 more state titles

CovCath has 6 state titles:

87, 88, 93, 94, 97, and 06.

Can you explain the definition of success?

Sounds more like "Insanity": Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

Seems to me that Dixie is happy with status quo!

Don't take my comments as the Philosophy of Dixie Heights Football. I am just a fan who doesn't believe in pointing fingers, because it is counter productive.

The definition of success is different at every school, I would say 36-12, a district championship, Regional Runner-up, victories over Highlands (2002, 2004 forfiet), Cov. Cath (02, 03, 04) and Giving Trinity 1 of there 2 playoff losses in this decade, although not State championships can be considered success.

If you have to win a State Championship to be successful, then would you say that Football is the easiest sport in KY to be successful in because 4 soon to be 6 teams can have a successful season but most every other sport only one team has a successful season.

Should Dixie Heights football team work harder, and strive to be State champions absolutley. If they don't they will go from a team that was a power in their district to a team that is an also ran.

My comment was towards someone who is blaming the coaches for something that has not happened yet, and may not even be true.

Got ya! :thumb:

I predict "also ran"! Highlands and CovCath are not going to lower their expectations and work less hard. Dixie is going to have to raise the bar. I just do not see it happening if they will not even have two-a-days!

Let's all settle down...I did not mean to start any issues or point a finger at the coachs when talking about two a days. I was only stating that a number of the players have requested two a days and were told that two a days were not an option. I thought that the conversation was about the benefit of two a days and if you have players that are willing, why not? Dixie coachs are among some of the top in the area and I am a die hard Dixie supporter. Stop looking for reasons to stir the pot, let it go and GO DIXIE!

But they have proven they can beat these teams without two a days.

I wouldn't consider beating Highlands once in 25 years proves that 2 a days aren't needed.

I agree but in most of the 25 years they had two a days. I feel that if you have better Jimmies and Joes and they work you can beat anyone if you practice 20 hours a day or 3 hours.

Two a days can't hurt your team. But not having two a days always leaves the question, maybe if we had just practiced a little more.

I strongly disagree with this. Why do you think Highlands has the "Jimmies and the Joes"? They work hard and develop players 12 months a year. That is why they have a winning season every year and are in title contention every year.

It happens, but it is very rare that you just have better athletes and win. That is the excuse the losing team makes for not working very hard! On many occasions I have seen a less talented team win because they were better prepared and more technically sound.

Believe it or not, all of the Highlands kids are not born with supreme athletic ability. I can tell you that Dixie will never develop young talent until they decide to have two-a-day practices. Summer time is an opportunity to create depth and focus on the young kids a little bit. Those kids who are not starters get tons of reps during the summer. They become better technicians of their position, become better players, develop more football savvy, and become more confident in their ability.

Starting the season, I would rank NKY 5a like this:

1. HHS

2. Dixie

3. CCH

I don't see it as you do. If what he says is true that the players want to have two a days, I see that as the PLAYERS committed and motivated. Why can't they show that commitment and motivation? Seems like the players want to improve.
