Sounds as if Dixie has a great opportunity to do great things but something or someone is missing. Roster looks decent, great improvements to school and facility so why not winnning more games?

I had to double check with the KHSAA website but their record over the last 5years is 41-18 during that span they have victories over Highlands (02, 04 Forfiet), Cov. Cath (02, 03, 04), Trinity (04), they have a regional Runner up in a game that was played on not so great of facilities at Dixie Heights. So I think it is wrong to say they haven't won many games.

Last Season they went 5-6 which isn't good enough, but when I looked at their schedule on the KHSAA website I could see why, Losses to Highlands, Cov. Cath, Beechwood, Boone Co. and Ryle twice all games played on the ROAD.

I hope they get things turned back in the right direction this season.

Dixie was inching up at becoming THE NKY power....they have to get that fire back, so that they can put themselves in that situation again.

So they didn't have two a days this season?

I certainly wouldn't know, but if they didn't, I'm sure Tom had good reasons. He is a very good coach. I could speculate that maybe Tom felt with the district games being at the end of the year, its the best way to prep the team. Perhaps he felt that two a days are unhealthy or would prevent some kids that have to have summer jobs from participating. Tom could have several reasons that are legitimate to him (that some of us may disagree with), but hey, he's the head coach and if he thought two a days weren't necessary, its his call. While Dixie didn't have the record some Dixie fans hoped they would have had, as another poster pointed out, its not like he lost games to inferior teams.

I actually think Dixie's program will greatly improve with CovCath and Highlands being in their district. I've often felt that a lot of Dixie fans, while they weren't happy when they lost to CovCath and Highlands, they weren't all that upset because those games did not matter when it came to winning the district. As long as they beat the other 4A programs (and Dixie has had a pretty good track record all in all playing those teams) and advancing to the playoffs, things were good. Getting eliminated by Trinity was nothing to be ashamed of. I KNOW that Tom was not happy with Highlands and CovCath being placed in his district, but I firmly believe that it will improve the Dixie football program. With open enrollment in Kenton County (and no other historically strong football program in the Kenton County district), with their new facilities, with a good tradition and with good coaches there is no reason for them not to be as good as Highlands and CovCath year in and year out. And with all their returning starters coming back this year, I can't think of a better time for them to be placed in the district with CovCath and Highlands. I would seriously have to consider them the favorite to win the district this year. CovCath will of course reload, but they have lost a whole lot, and I mean a whole lot of their starters plus they will have to deal with the new coach and the changes associated therewith. While Highlands returns more starters than CovCath, they will be really inexperienced on both lines and we know the importance of experienced linemen, plus I assume the game will be at Dixie.

They haven't had two-a-days for years.

^ They really need to step back, and commit to two-a-days, if it works for those of us that are winning state, it can't hurt Dixie.

Win the NewCath scrimmage!

Three years running in the Preseason Super Bowl for the Breds.:jump:

Favorite to win district , not hardly ! Yes they do have alot of starters on both sides of the ball returning , but this team for the last 2 years . Shut down or shot themselves in the foot every time they played Highlands or CovCath . What ever they do in the off season , they need to double it ! They have the talent , they just need the hunger to win every game like its there last ! Dixie Sr's 10 games left , it's up to you for anything else !

Highlands is the favorite this year , Big Time !

CovCath with a new coach coming in will be 2nd.

That leaves Dixie , Holmes and Scott for 3rd and 4th .

Now leatherneck , lets take a good look at this . I've looked in the Great Halls of Highlands and seen some pretty nice stuff ! What 15 or 16 state titles or so . Look at Dixies and you see a Conference Champ's from I think 64 or 65 . ( The Dave Browning day's as a player , not as a coach yet ! ) And some District Titles that we are very proud of them all ! Then you look at this years state Champs , CovCath and see what 4 or 5 more state titles ! So 2 of the 5 teams alone in the district have 20 or more state titles ! You can't possibility pick Dixie to be the favorite this year . Yes I love the Coaches we have and they have had great success at Dixie . But its time to challenge this years TEAM to take it to the next level . And its time for the Dixie Football TEAM players to commit totally to TEAM FIRST and nothing else ! Then and only then will you see something special happen at DIXIE !!!!!!!!!!

Until then Highlands 1st , CovCath 2nd , and the rest of us 3rd or 4th ! That's the truth , nothing but the truth ! This TEAM has the talent , but will see if they find out what to do with it ! DIXIE PRIDE FOREVER !!!!!!! :fire:

No two a days. The players want to do them but have been told by the coaches that it isn't going to happen. Who has the commitment and motivation? Sounds like the players want to improve.....
