Any word on the results of the Simon Kenton vs. Campbell County game tonight? Both teams were battling for their first win of the season.

No the Colonels do not know that at all.  Better teams win, period.  Yes, it is that simple, cut, and dry.  Good teams don’t lose and don’t make excuses for losing.  When you lose, you lose because yo

It’s always the adults that mess things up. I lost in the second round my senior year. If coach Schneider said we were playing Ludlow again (they lost to Beechwood round 2) next Friday the whole team would’ve been back in the weight room and film room Saturday morning at 8am. Kids love to compete. Way more kids play football than basketball.

I believe that puts Highlands at CCH next week in the 1 vs 2 match.

Beechwood will host Ryle in the 3 vs 4 match.

I believe it is Cooper hosting Conner in 5 vs. 6.

Cooper (4-4) beat both Conner (3-5) and Dixie Heights (3-5). Dixie Heights beat Conner, so if they're sticking with W/L records for scheduling the final week, that would put Cooper playing Dixie.

Conner would play whichever team won tonight's Simon Kenton vs. Campbell County game, and the loser of the Simon Kenton vs. Campbell County game is stuck with a bye if they can't find another team to play like the Lawrencebug (IN), Harrison (OH), Elder (OH), or Moeller-B (OH). The losing team could also see if one of the froshmore squads in NKY wants to play them. I know at least Boone County & New Cath have been fielding froshmore teams this year, and I think maybe Holmes & Scott were trying to as well.

That all assumes that those teams do all want to schedule another game.

I think I'll survive. Just found the additional game odd for teams not in the championship. You want to play an additional game? Make it to the championship! Someone want to start a JV playoff system? They are the ones who could use additional games. They play fewer than the Freshman teams before this extra game was added.

You are completely missing what people are telling you. There was NO ADDITIONAL game added. Freshman football has always gone all the way up until the last week of the varsity regular season. Then once varsity playoffs start, freshman football is over and no more games are played. In years past freshman teams just scheduled 10 freshman game and that was it. They set it up this year, where the freshman teams only scheduled 9 games this year, and left then 10th week open. This way there could be an actual Freshman championship game. The other seeded games were included 3rd vs 4th, and so on this way those teams wouldn’t lose out on the 10th game they usually always had before this year. So there was no additional games at all. In fact most of these teams even before this year, usually ended up having to play at least one team twice in the regular season in order to get 10 games in.

So you literally are causing a fuss over nothing. No additional games were added this year, and teams are having to play a at least one team twice just like many teams have done a lot of times in previous years. The only difference this year, by doing this format it allowed for freshman football to actually have a Championship game. Also Basketball tryouts is not impacted in anyway either, because freshman football is going to end at the same time it has every single year and that’s when the varsity regular season ends.

What year was that?

If I had to guess it was 1999, based off Ludlow losing to Beehwood in the second round. Which I believe Bellevue beat NCC in the second round that year. Which would fit the situation he was mentioning.

I agree that CCH will be a big underdog against Highlands without Pitzer. If CCH were without Pitzer against Beechwood, it would be Beechwood playing Highlands next week IMO.

I will add, even with Pitzer I would have Highlands a solid favorite in the CCH rematch. I think Highlands is the clear #1 freshman team.

I’m hoping CCH let's the moves up freshman play in the game on Thursday. Those would have to be better competitive reps unless they are getting those same reps on Varsity. And maybe they are. Wither way, should be a good game next week.

Good Luck Birds. let's get this W.

Agree 100%.  If the CCH kids are getting meaningful snaps on varsity, then they definitely should not play in this game.  Otherwise, it would great to see both teams teams/classes at full strength

Highlands is at full strength.

I think the Highlands contingent would prefer if CCH brought every available freshman. I think everyone would like to see the best game possible.

They are doing a 3rd place game and a 5th place game in Freshman football? Very odd to me. How about you make the championship game or move on to basketball try outs?

Freshman football is about development, reps, etc. Is there really a problem with getting your freshman guys another week of practice and another game?
